MMC? Not anymore... Formula One Newcastle for me and others

Post by delands » Sat Sep 23, 2006 7:35 pm

After reading some stories of dissatisfaction from MMC, four cars, of which 3 were needing serviced, headed out to Formula One at Newcastle yesterday.

It was quite refreshing to spend some time chatting with all the members of staff and to be treated with the attitude, especially of the owner, "if it wasn't for you guys then we wouldn't have a business to pay the workers".

It's a small Official Lotus Dealership but don't let that put you off, they have a lots of stunning Lotus (including the new Europa), plus several fast Mercs and BMWs, as well as a mint condition original RS Cosworth with 4k miles on the clock and a lovely Ferrari 360. With their care and attitude all of the cars were serviced efficiently, on time and given a power wash clean.... and the best bit... they charge around £100 less for a service. From memory MMC are asking £355 for an S2 K-Series A service. F1 charged £265! For our business, they gave us a complimentary bottle of F1 Chardonnay and a F1 stainless steel chunky key ring, We also received gratuitous cups of coffee and a box of oxygen that Lotus were giving out as part of the Summer Festival.

To make us feel even more welcome, if ever we were in the area out for a run, we could use the premises as a meeting point and if they were shut, they would come and open up for us. In emergencies too, they would open up the garage to help get us on our way again.

All four of us left the premises at the end of the day with a glowing satisfaction of the place agreeing that this is the way that dealerships should be run. A nice small private dealership indeed.

I shall definitely be heading back for my own service in the next couple of months.

Who were the other three? Wish I had known you were going down today, I was also down in Newcastle getting my car serviced (although at JudePerformance) I could have joined the convoy.

I bought my Exige at Formula1 from Peter Cosimini, was fairly happy with the deal and the way things went on the day.
Good to see the are willing to make an effort for our business.

One of the reasons for using F1 was to get the Lotus stamp in the book as all the cars are reasonably new. However, will need to remember Jude for future. Their details are on the SE website.

We service lots of new cars and, due to reputation as a well respected independant Lotus specialist, our stamp is worth just as much (if not more) than a dealer stamp in your book when it comes to resale values. :thumbsup

Can there be anyone left in Scotland daft or ill informed enough to take their car to MMC for servicing? And does anyone at MMC even care about their increasingly dire reputation with the Lotus community in Scotland? Hmmmm....

its quite an expensive oil change craig, circa £70 for parts etc but i would def take it to MMC for its first 1000 mile service, and then after that dan@jps :thumbsup
