Well since the girlfriend was under whelmed at the prospect I’m going to tell you guys in the hope of a more positive response.

Deal done on a new shed, picking it up (on a trailer) at the weekend. Need to sharpen my spanners to get it sorted but looking forward to collection.

I recon it would have cost me £3,500 if had an MOT and was all OK so am pleased to get it at £1100.

Am already thinking about what I can bolt on to increase the weight, big mud crunching wheels, winch etc.

Come on; how hard can it be to change a cylinder head gasket. I’ve done a couple of Ks in my time and a big alloy V8 is just two tuned a bit sideways and glued together. Access shouldn’t be too bad either.

He says with ridiculous optimism and his fingers crossed to the point of dislocation.

Am collecting on Saturday, anybody know where I can hire a biggish transporter, in the Glasgow area? I have the old gent’s Discovery to use as a tow car but recon I’ll need a 2 ton trailer :drive . Ideas?

Shed now collected and stored at the parents pending attention.

Drove down on Saturday via Edinburgh to pick up a transporter. Set off at 8.30am and got back at 3am, one long days driving. 700 miles and a top speed of 65 ish on the way down, 55 on the way back. :drive

Bit annoyed about the transported which came from indespension. They would not supply ratchet straps or any other way of holding the car on and I had to part with an extra £70 for 4 big ratchet straps, I dare say they will be useful in the years to come but frankly I’d rather have the cash.

When I had a look at the trailer on Sunday I noticed that 2 of the bearings had all but given up, the grease had melted and run out and they were running pretty rough so I refused to take it back to Edinburgh on safety grounds, dropped it back to the Glasgow branch and saved myself £30 worth of diesel (ratchet contribution) . Just glad they didn’t give up completely at 55mph with 2 tonnes on the traler.

Very happy with the car although the leather on the front seats is a bit cracked and tatty looking. Anybody know how I’d go about improving it?

GHF notwithstanding it starts and runs very well, those V8’s are sooooo smooth. Spanners out this weekend to see if I can whip the heads off and stick on new gaskets. Not sure whether I’ll need to have the heads skimmed but fingers crossed it’ll be OK.
