From my anyone selling up thread it started just as a conversation with Pete - he wasn’t sure whether he wanted to sell and his car was probably spec’d at a much higher level than I initially intended buying, so more than I wanted to spend. But once I looked through the options, seen and drove the car I had to make an offer that Pete would find was hard to resist.
Another point not to underestimate – there is a lot is to be said for dealing with someone you know and is reasonably local. Maybe I’m getting old but the thought of travelling south to view cars, testing every single thing, worrying what you’ve missed, are they truthful?, any hidden history?, HPI checks, how to pay safely?, travelling again to collect etc. etc. seems such a hassle. Maybe in my twenties it was an exciting adventure but not now. For the first time in a long time, it was a pleasure to buy a car in such a relaxed and friendly way from a top bloke and feel lucky to find such a great car locally.
So, as Pete doesn’t post too much, here is the spec and a pic as it was detailed before I picked it up. Probably missed something but from memory:
2008 Exige S 240 PP, Performance and Sports packs, Burnt Orange, 2ubular exhaust, slightly lowered with one way adjustable Nitrons, uprated toe links, full roof scoop, orange contrast stitching on leather harness style seats, drivers harness but still has seatbelts, AP racing 4 piston calipers with larger discs – split rotors on front + Pagid RS14s, Team dynamic alloys with AD08s, all important air con, FSH from MMC, low miles, armourfend, variable traction control, launch control, mission control, outta control (OK, I made those last two up ... and have no interest in using the launch control).
Basically if I was to spec my dream Exige this was pretty much it. Collected last night and track night booked already for next week
