OK I have too many dogs in this fight for a formal comment so I'll just try and restrict my reply to stuff that is in the public domain.

PK (Prestwick) and PF (Glasgow).

PK was recently a profit making enterprise. Currently it is not. But it does generate 10s of millions for the economy.
It is has ludicrously long runways, it has few noise issues (departures over the sea). It was run into the ground (pun) by its current owners. Pax numbers are irrelevant - that is not where the money is. It employs large numbers in one of Scotland's poorer counties. As a punt for Scottish govt it is a no-brainer.

PF is a very different entity and comparing the 2 is like comparing Ford and Lotus.

Sorry this is one of the few occasions where I have Robin levels of knowledge of the topic and I can't really talk about it. There is no loss of money for Scottish Govt in this - they will make a net profit.
