Don't get me wrong - if it was £50 then fine, but £200

I've felt better thai fakes in my hands...

...maybe could've put that better

I'd rather splash my wad on the Thai fake to be honest.

No wait...

Actually, yeah, why not.

£85?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008X34B9W/r ... 71_TE_item

(Comparable to MK's offerings - Missus has one for 'bling' nights out with the girls - She has a similar silver one she bought 5 years back, and it's still running fine after I changed the battery).

Think you're all missing the point here and wasting your time trying to suggest alternatives.

According to a friend who works in Harvey Nics, Michael Kors bags, watches etc are flying out the door, so must be the popular choice at the moment.

So while I agree with everyone's comments about watches from fashion brands, I feel that when it comes to what your daughter wants, even if you find an identical looking watch from a watch maker, if it doesn't sport Michael Kors branding then it's going to disappoint and at the end of the day, is a happy daughter on her 16th birthday not the most important thing.

When it comes to watches like this, it is very much all about the brand and nothing to do with the quality of the time piece.
Experience is something you get, just after you need it!!

Don't know about Michael Kors, but I've been told in the past that most fashion brand watches, DKNY, Gucci, D&G etc are all made in the same factory which is where the £30-40 Fossil watches are made.

Either way fashion is fashion. You pay for the name and get what will likely be a poor quality timepiece but then it doesn't matter as by the time it breaks that brand will be out of fashion anyway.
It probably makes them more fashionable to be of poorer quality :blackeye
