Ferrari at it again

Just reading the latest evo and noticed they were testing the P1 and the Porsche but no La ferrari. Oh well, that test will come eventually.

Not sure it will though.

Reading the note from the editor it seems Ferrari refused to supply a factory car and said there would be major consequences if they tried to find a car from elsewhere.

I know it's no one is dead but it's getting really boring. Surely the would gain much more credibility if they just chilled out a bit?

I really dislike the arrogance of Ferrari,they make fantastic cars but they aren't the only premium sports car manufacturer out there and if I was ever lucky enough to be in the market for one I would take pleasure in buying a McLaren instead.

I think you have to consider The Italian psyche...

Italians have a fantastic design and engineering heritage, making their products highly desirable. But other nations may make better products, which are more efficient, cost the same/less.

So Ferrari put a car into the test mix and it comes out "not first" - all the journos saying how good the other cars are in different areas. Does this stop the wealthy buying a La Ferrari ? No. Does it cause a bit of bad blood between the journos and Ferrari ? Yes.

Do you still want to own a Ferrari, specifically a La Ferrari, if you had the chance ? 'Course you would. So what's the point of putting it up for test ?

It's all down to the whole experience.

Why is it all the rich arabians drive round london in Lamborghinis - they look the best. Are they the best cars ?

If you have that kind of money, you should have a Pagani* - no arguments

* or a Koenisegg, or.........

Customer cars are not factory ringers that are supplied for test....

2 La ferrari's at Goodwood, one was JK's car the other was a customer car but not sure who's. Ferrari did the same with the Enzo, no official test cars. TG used Nick Masons car for there first test.
These cars, La Ferrari, 918 and P1 are essentially technology showcases, to demonstrate one companies development of the hybrid concept as it pertains to hypercars. Why would you NOT want people to test it, in x years this will appear in all sorts of cars not just the 3 mentioned. And if you don't want people to discuss to pros and cons of your product then you had better not make anything.

He (Chris Harris) had to wait a few years but is now back in them again (if you're important enough that is, probably)
Same goes for Top Gear who were on the black list after Clarkson explaining the 'secret launch control' function on the 599 GTB.

This isn't new, Ferrari didn't allow F50s to be tested with F40s as the latter was faster accelerating and had a higher top speed.

McLaren played a similar game by refusing to release their P1 ring time.

Actually, at £60k+, strikes me values have started to hold up?
