Leather Seat Refurbishment

Post by Davie » Mon May 11, 2015 4:48 pm

The seats in my Porsche 993 are showing there age and I'm looking to get them refurbished. I'm based in Aberdeen and as usual there doesn't seem to be anyone local that does this type of work. Has anyone got any experience or recommendations of a company in Scotland that does refurbishment.
Thanks
Dave

I used david Hannen in Musselburgh for my full Esprit interior retrim, it was spot on! Willie Ramsey in Loanhead is also very good and does main dealer stuff :thumbsup

I know that Willie is very good but he also has a long waiting list for clients.

When I was selling my 964 the seats were not looking their best (being cream and also due to water stains due to the Targa top). I spoke to Robert @ Incredible Detail and he suggested David at Prestige Leather in Glasgow.

Not the most pleasant looking of industrial units but he did a great job on the car (although I wanted it done to a budget due to selling the car).

From this:

If I was keeping the car I would have gone for the re-foaming in the seat base and having new clips and the side bolster was not quite attaching perfectly.

Pictures do not do the change justice as they were taken in the dark garage.

Sanjoy,

I had my wheel re-trimmed in alcantara-effect a couple of years ago by Transcal in Livingston, very nice job and is wearing well. There were many colours and stitching options available, for the stitching I asked them to match the light grey colour and they did a good job I'd say. £222 all together.
Only criticism (not of Transcal) is I asked for the same grip size as the standard wheel and it feels a bit narrow, they can up-size for a more 'chunky' feel which I should have done.

Tidy indeed. Not a fan of Alcantara wheels due to how they often wear but that looks sound.

Would be interested what your impression of Optimus is. I was going to see them about wear on my 968 bucket seat, found out I can still get original cloth by the metre or get a whole replacement cover.
Transcal get mentioned a lot as well was going to see Optimus 1st then decide if I should speak to Transcal.

Optimus quoted me £2250 to do the interior of my Elise in Leather and Alcantata... I think Lotus are cheaper lol

For 2 grand I'd have a go. There might be a few creases.

I had my Ultima seats and some interior parts retrimmed by this guy up in Newtonmore who headed the trim shop at TVR http://www.smithupholstery.co.uk/index.php/7

Very impressed by the quality and was a fair bit cheaper than Transcal.
