Buying cars in Europe

Post by pete » Sun Jul 05, 2015 1:32 am

Would now be a profitable time to buy from the Eurozone?

Did it once and it worked out very well...

I was wondering why you don't seem to hear about it anymore - the Euro is at 1.4 to the pound which is very cheap...

I've been buying bike stuff in Europe but not cars. Maybe it's because so many cars are leased or PCP'd here now?

Good point - i don't really understand leasing (because I run sheds probably).

A lot of the bits for Millie's MTB came from bike-discount.de where are you getting yoru bits from?

(Exits stage left to look at bikes - we need to go out again)

At the height of importing new Euro cars into the UK (when you found private dealers setting up to do it) it wasn't just a currency thing, it was also a big rip off Britain thing, with cars costing much more here anyway.

I remember by dad buying his first new car in 1998, an Alfa 156 which cost something like £18.5k. The same new car 2 years later cost something like £15k as prices were brought in line with the rest of Europe.
