How to Value a Cat D 370z?
Re: How to Value a Cat D 370z?
It is due its first MOT which John is doing on Tuesday morning. Do not expect any surprises on a 13,000 mile car which has had three services.
He has arranged an AA inspection after the MOT which he is paying for, and all being well he is driving up with his wife on the same day. I know that he will be more than happy with the car and if he keeps it for a few years then the CAT D side of it becomes less important as he has paid well under the cars value.
As for it only being worth 50% of retail, try buying an Elise on here that had been a CAT D for clamshell damage for 50% of its true worth. However I know that I have a different mentality than most, the last thing that I think of when I buy a car is what I will be able to sell it for, the intention is to use and enjoy it for the foreseeable future. Verian's Audi TT is now back home as Iain has moved to Canada, it has just had a full service and tune up, I had it mapped to 280hp eleven years ago, so I took it out roof down on a private road as I had not driven it for years. I could not believe the acceleration, road was narrow and I backed off from full throttle through the gears as it was really fierce. Must be the difference between S/C and T/C, it was coming in at 3,000rpm and just taking off as opposed to the always there from a S/C.
However we should really be selling it as it will not be used apart from Clare when she comes home this month for Scotty's wedding. A bit loath to though as it is 15 years old now and would go for a pittance, whereas it drives like new and saw off most cars when it was last on track until Scotty passed in his Exige.

I wish I had more of your mentality! - My girlfriend is an accountant and detests depreciation and I've also got a finance background and of the same mindset. To be fair it usually serves us well but I have to admit in a few good deals in the past because of this, I'm sure the 370z will be another example.

Just counted up and I have never actually sold a car in 58 years of ownership, they have either been written off, scrapped, or given away.

Lovely car, almost its twin, same colour, same leather straps, same twin spare wheels.
In fact that came second, forgot about the Singer 9 that it replaced. Can not remember what happened to that, just that it cost me 10 quid, bought it just before I was 17 and took it out for a run, stopped by a Morris Minor 850 for a buckled wheel, fined 10 quid for no licence, tax, or insurance. No points in those days.

Re: How to Value a Cat D 370z?
370Z just went through its MOT without even an advisory.
AA inspection, bottom line was the car is as good as new apart from slight curbing on one wheel.

Good to hear; I hope the new owner enjoys the Zed, it looks stunning.
