Looking for some advice on a VX220
Looking for some advice on a VX220
I ran my e46 m3 two winters, but I did put winter tyres on it and mad the world of difference. Easily matched the Quattros for ability to get about. Will dig out some pictures but made it through snow drifts height of the window.
more fun with less traction sometimes!
I do think the e46 m3 is a performance bargain just now. Very competent all rounder.
Edit. Have to add it did like to rust on the cills and arches...

Unfortunately not. I got an email from the dealer last night saying that somebody viewed the car yesterday afternoon and placed a deposit on it. A bit disappointing really as I offered to place a deposit earlier in the week but that's just the way things go. Cash is king I guess. I'm not too upset by it. I'll keep my eye on the classifieds but I am in absolutely no rush to let my Z4M go. My thoughts at the moment are to spend some more money on the Z4M and get the suspension fully overhauled with something a bit more focussed.

Swings and roundabouts easty. I thought about that route with the m3 then concluded it was cheaper to buy an Elise (I also considered rosscos sc VX)
Either choice would be good. Is the Z4M standards? I ran trackday tyres, good fluid and friction Z pads. The M3 would do hour long stints on those no problem. What made me faster was always driver training over car improvements.

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()

Yea i know what you are saying. It will cost the guts of £3000 for a proper set of suspension. The problem I have is, I couldnt get a standard Elise and VX. If replacing the Z4M I have to have something as quick, if not quicker in a straight line. I do a hell of a lot more miles on the road than I do on track.istoo wrote:Swings and roundabouts easty. The Z isn't standard. The brakes are properly sorted (CL pads, new standard calipers, SRF fluid), Rear trailing arm bushes replaced and a limiter kit installed, Eibach springs, full CSL spec Geo, track tyres and exhaust & air intake. You are right about driver training.

Mike - I seen that. Too much work required to make it road worthy and useable. It's also a cat C which makes it a non-starter.Mike Scib wrote:http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/index.ph ... C2%A312500

Now with half an engine
Re: Looking for some advice on a VX220
Yea I seen that one Tony. If I go for a VX it has to be a turbo or SC. I need something with a bit of poke behind it.

Is dippers still for sale? If so I need to go and check my bank balance ( then cry) then convince myself it's a really good idea to spunk all my savings away.....
Lovely looking thing.
