Roofer - Aberdeen

Can anyone recommend a roofer in Aberdeen? We have a leak and the rip off merchant who bodged it last time doesn't appear to be available.

Cant find the number but Charlie Duncan, the old Fraserburgh football club manager is a semi retired roofer and his brother runs a roofing outfit in Aberdeen.

If you cant find it or not sorted by tonight I can get the number from someone else.

Also need a roofer!
Been quoted a few hundred which then doubles to £600 who then asks for money up front to multiple quotes of £5000ish for repair of a small flat roof.
Half of the roofers say it's an easy enough repair (then don't come around) and the others just say it will
be thousands. A rather busy time for them just now.

I called him this morning as we seem to have another couple of non related leaks with all the rain, not heard back as yet.

You could try sending a PM to van cleef on here - he was a roofer but now works offshore, may be able to point you in the right direction if you're struggling.
Lives somewhere near Aberdeen.

Good luck getting a roofer in Aberdeen, I've tried a couple of times and the half dozen I spoke to weren't interested in anythingbsmall (I was looking to have light tunnels installed so not that small!). Most wouldn't even quote - the expectation was that they would 'accept' my workscope but if I was wanting quotes, then they were too busy. Finally awarded the job and the guy kept putting me off. Six months later I stopped chasing him...
I guess things might be a little different now there's not so much money sloshing around in Aberdeen?

On topic though, I recently needed a gable end soffit painted and gutters cleared but due to the height access issues, couldn't find a painter to touch it. One of them put me in touch with a polish lad who was actually a roofer - did a cracking job of the painting etc. Fast, efficient, good price, etc. I haven't used him for roofing (yet) but no reason to doubt him - name was Kris (kodrzyckik26@gmail.com).

What's the collective opinion of tradesmen changing their tune, given the current oil market conditions ?

Most of them acted like they couldn't give a toss about the work unless it was a full new roof (small flat roof section) at 5 bloody grand!

The ones who were keen wanted the money up front (before doing anything) presumably so they can do a runner

To end on a positive note though: there was a
Recommendation here which hopefully will sort it.

Bloody typical of UK trades attitudes right now to be honest - can't be bothered unless it's a big money spinning rip-off job or they can shaft you up front for the dosh, start the work then disappear. Then we get the Polish guy who wants to work and earn, comes around, does exactly what he says he will, for a fair price, and everyone's happy apart from the bloody UK trades who then whinge and whine about migrant workers stealing their jobs. Bloody typical, explains the mess we're in, and it ain't the fault of the migrants but our tradesman. Obviously a gross generalisation, but they are usually the best ones to make ;)

I've given up on trying to get a roofer to do anything in Perthshire so have decided to live with the leaks and buy bigger buckets......
