Oops.....apologies, I've just Googled the Tesla S and the photo I took of it and that was indeed the taxi I was in !!! I must of misunderstood his broken English and of course I was non the wiser what the model was having never seen one before. If it had been a Tesla 1 I would of recognised it!!!

Re: Tesla Model 3
Interesting that it's taken a new ish company like Tesla to drive this forward, rather than an existing large company. The Model 3 is certainly ambitious, and very well could shake things up a bit. Are we ready for it? No. The charging infrastructure isn't there yet, neither is the understanding, cheap battery replacement, or resale market.thinfourth wrote:So whats the thoughts on it
The beginning of the end or the opening of a new chapter?
Revealed on friday and already 325,000 deposits taken

I am half tempted to put my money down
But i am a tight git
I'd take the 325,000 preorders with a pinch of salt though, 1 grand down, fully refundable doesn't equate too that many cars. There will be lots of maybes and even more speculating to accumulate with early build slots etc. in there.

Mr Musk reckons not many speculative buyers as less than 5% have ordered the maximum of 2 per person.Corranga wrote:thinfourth wrote:So whats the thoughts on it

Time will tell I guess.
I do think tesla are upsetting the apple kart and if nothing else it may encourage more manufacturers to spend on development.
The TT zero bikes are sounding pretty good these days. http://behindthewheel.com.au/mugen-shin ... ign=buffer
And now the electric bikes lap faster than the lightweight petrol ones.
Re: Tesla Model 3
I had a shot on an electric MTB in Germany (we were on a cycle tour and stopped in a bike shop and was admiring one and the bloke said - take it out...)
It was 5k but you'd have one in a heart beat for 2...
Handles like a MTB (so ace, way better than a scooter) accelerates like something that weighs less than 25kg and has 75nm of torque. But you don't feel it helping, it's just you, but with another 2 or 3 you helping you pedal. The bloke offered me a certificate of conformance for the UK (they aren't UK legal for the road but, well the cop isn't going to be able to test it...)
I was tempted to build one for a commute. Bosch 400w motor, I don't need full sus - dead weight - just as light as I could build it. Dress like a roadie (so it doesn't look too suspicious) and commute at a 45kmh average...

More speed will give you more stability, so if you go fast enough it will be impossible to fall off. Dom does fisics
