Alternatively, if there's a thread you have a problem with - flag it to the mods instead of dragging up gawd-knows-how-old threads...

Little icon at the top right of every post with a "!" symbol.

Edit - and that's exactly what I posted up 8 years ago when you originated this thread :damnfunny

Classic post from Brian earlier in the thread. Still miss him and Obi.

"Bit mystified by all this as I obviously didn't read any of the threads referred to. Good advice generally not to read threads that are not of interest:)

In the past a few guys have cropped up who didn't share the interests of the majority - but they usually then drop out quite soon.

The site still has quality threads such as the recent one on the definition of "tuts". I vote for no radical change of policy.

I worry a bit about the condescending references to young/poor people buying older Elises - I was brought up to treat poor people just the same and find it rewarding! - just like my friend who was only allowed once a year on his birthday to kick the footman. (Clarify that the last bit was a joke in case it offends the PC contingent)

Well done for lightening the mood there, Tut. Brian's closing point is classic :-)

No one braking any rules, just my opinion.

I also think politics and religion are not for SE.

Some people just need to go down the pub and have a good discussion with there mates (if they have any)

People have moved on from the old SE and "the good guys" don't even come on here any more and tut even posted why is this place so sh*t thread, ever wondered why? Just saying?

Agree on much of that Scotty. Who are "the good guys" and what did they bring?

I guess this must be aimed at me (and scuffers)

I look at SE occasionally mostly to keep in touch with SE and also because I've got some attachment to it. I posted on a thread called Trump because well, you know, it's topical and, well you know, you had an active thread called Trump. That didn't seem terribly welcome by some as it turned out. Fair enough. But the solution seems simple to me: if you don't like such threads don't read them. It's a bit like watching Big Brother and then complaining about it. But if SE has a big issue with political threads then don't allow them because they will always become polarised into one side versus the other (those that are right and those that are wrong :D ).

And Scotty you might be surprised to hear but I do have friends. In fact, I'm not long back from the pub. It's sausage and mash Tuesday washed down with a cold Guinness. :cheers

You're a bit modest there, Kelvin. You're a founder member. We're a dying breed...

Apart from the nostalgia I don't think it counts for that much really.

PS I replied to your email a while back...

I do not have a problem with any subject raised, as has been said if they do not interest you then do not read/join in. I enjoy a good debate on many subjects, I do not not take opinions personally if they do not agree with my own as that is exactly what they are, but do not attack myself or my friends personally or I will rip your fcuking heads off.

Along with this we need the essentials and ethos that S_E is built on and that is the car itself. Around this we have the technical advice, social functions, road runs, trackdays, general banter, serious discussions, in other words anything that is worth talking about.

It has worked for seventeen years now, and if we look after it then it will well outlast me.
