Went over a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it although remember it was mega busy. Hoping that with it not being the weekend this time and initial hype having died down it should hopefully be a little quieter!
Access really depends on who is on the stand entrance. Ferrari as usual you have no chance. Porsche stand is open this year. Lamborghini and McLaren are closed stands but pretend to have a car on order and you'll be able to blag it. Majority of tuners will let you on, just pretend you own the car and blag it. You will be surprised how easy it is, but even if you can't get on the stands you still get pretty close to most of the cars.

My tip is to also buy water and a few snacks before leaving Edinburgh Airport as the prices in the hall are extortionate. I learned my lesson from the first year so I went prepared this year - you can't leave and go back in so once you're in that's it until you are finished for the day.

Enjoy, we did.

If anyone is going, be aware Geneva airport is struggling with the peak through security. I know some people who took 1 1/2hours to get through and missed their flight. Made worse by the fact there everyone seemed o be in the same boat and were queue jumping.

No blagging on to mine last year :blackeye

Some of the stories you hear as stand manager are tremendous - "I'm Colin Chapman's grandson" when we had Clive on the stand was a classic

Avoid Friday return as it's ski chalet staff change day also.....compounding the fun. 3 hours to get into security last year..

Cheers for the info guys. Hopefully won't be too bad as flying out tomorrow morning rather than the evening after the show....
Great day today I have to say. Definitely quieter than on the weekend comparing to my last visit over.

Hopefully lotus will return with a stand next year.... :thumbsup

I found just asking politely went a long way, got onto the stands I was keen to.

Graeme, why have a stand and not let people on to sit in the cars??

Just back from the bike show, sat on a couple of potential new trackbikes, but Honda had their new fire blade roped off. Don't you run the risk of missing out on potential customers if you don't let them in to experience the cars

I always allowed the girls to unlock the cars on request as the minimum; you only have 3-4 cars, for a 12 day show, and if you have an open stand and leave them open on the early public days you get kids with drinks, folk with food, people kicking lumps out the car as they try and get in with both hands full of bags/posters etc = car destroyed and locked for the rest of the show (we replaced 2 seats, 6 sil trims etc during last year....lots of fun late nights!)

Very different with a secure stand (Aston, McLaren, Ferrari etc etc) = but that's lots more money. It's best to leave one open and rotate it to save wear and tear......selling Lotuses easier once the customer is inside as it's hard to get out and run away
