Re: Decided on a change
Getting the kids to sell their hamster cage for Audi R8 V10 funds is a nice way to do it

Lovely looking car and well jealous. Like many on SE, always lusted after an Audi R8, Glad its in warranty as some of the warranty bills we had on the RS4 would have been pretty scary without the warranty. We probably racked up £3-4k worth while we had the car for 2 DRC issues - luckily both were covered. Suspect the R8 would be in another league of ££££.

Re: Decided on a change
ironically the opposite is true, nothing broke on mine in 3 years and 16k miles and once they are over 3 years old they go on fixed price servicing and that is a 1/3rd of the price of a standard service. Parts aren't ridiculous and they tend to be pretty reliable. Only issue I had was when the car was out of warranty it need front brake callipers because they weren't allowed to heat them to get the bleed nipples loose. That was a big bill but not huge, £1500 for a pair of front callipers with pads. Need a rear as well as the slide had seized and again Audi don't let them free them off. It was only £200 IIRC. You are also free to use specialist garage for all your servicing away from the £160/hr franchise. SO they are not hugely expensive to run especially compared to a McLaren or Ferrari.douglasgdmw wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 5:53 pmGetting the kids to sell their hamster cage for Audi R8 V10 funds is a nice way to do it![]()

Re: Decided on a change
Must admit, wish I did not start looking at pistonheads now. Could chop in the Spyder and get a V8 manual coupe or put a little bit of money in for a V10 R8 Spyder !!!
If you can live with the interior (or swap to the black seats), this looks a good price and local too:

Yes mike, warranty is with Audi so all good and it can be extended for as long as I like. As for servicing it’s not too expensive. If there is an approved garage within 10miles of the Audi garage they have to match the price and I can supply my own oil

Re: Decided on a change
Supplying your own oil takes a massive amount off an Audi bill on a car less than 3 years old. IIRC it dropped the price about 6 or £700 for an oil change on my V10 plus. Audi charge a ridiculous amount for mobil1 and the V10 takes a fair bit of it, 10l for the dry sump system.jossm wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 9:55 pmMikie711 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:47 pmironically the opposite is true, nothing broke on mine in 3 years and 16k miles and once they are over 3 years old they go on fixed price servicing and that is a 1/3rd of the price of a standard service.
