New York for <£200

Post by Sanjøy » Thu Sep 07, 2006 10:09 pm

No scam, Delta airlines have opened a new route to JFK from Gatwick. Granted.
Booked up tonight for november. £45 easyjet edin - gatwick then £229 to JFK direct flights.
The really cheap £160 have a 7 hours stop in Atlanta but hey if you have the time ...

Sanjoy,

Best of luck in finding accomodation in New York. We are going out from 16/11 to 24/11 and only decent hotel we could find was about 1200 notes as our trip conincides with Thanksgiving.

Just glad that the flights cost us 330, BA Club Class both ways - thank god for those frequent flyer BA miles.

If you want I can get my wife to send you various accomodation url's that she tried.

Cheers

Sanjoy,

Top quality. We did look at renting apartments but you do not know what you are getting, good that it is a recommendation so you know you are getting a good place.

What dates are you going across?

Must admit would love to drive the Elise in New York although the cab drivers would probably run over it. The opportunity to have a Lotus Elise experience a la Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky would be a great opportunity.

Cheers

Was out there at the end of september for 5 days and stayed at the W on lexington and 50th (ish). The hotel lobby bar etc was really smart but the rooms weren't all that. We asked for a bigger one when we got there and they ended up giving us one that had disabled access.......

It's the last place on earth i'd like to drive the liz.

I stayed in the Vanderbilt Y (Just up from the UN building) when I was there many moons ago...YMCA anyone 8) . Having said that it had a fully equipped gym, swimming pool and its own restaurant. But as you can imagine rooms are biscuit tin sized.

I wasnt really taken by NY...might have been something to do with nearly being stabbed by some prick from Essex who we met in a bar one night.

Went to one of the supposedly highly rated clubs in DJ mag, it took us 2 hrs to find it up some decidedly dodgy streets, then when we got there it was only open until 12am and they had some rediculous drinks policy about 2 drinks per customer.

Americans couldnt believe the amount we drunk while we were there. They were even more shocked when I told them I had my 15th Bday party in a pub in Scotland.

We were speaking to a couple of guys from Wall street. One was telling me the company he worked for had caught wind that he went out clubbing every other night and were now offering him counseling and psychiatric help to get through this difficult period of his life! :o
