That will be a Proton car tuned by Lotus like they had a few years ago... not the other way around if you know what I mean.

Real shame the Esprit is being delayed - Lotus could really do with a brand image boosting car like that. I am not at all sure a 2+2 is the right way to go for Lotus - the competition for a more useable coupe from Porsche, Audi etc is too strong.

My money is still on an S3 Elise some time next year - almost exactly 6 years now since the S2 was announced. The fact that Lotus are conspicuously not saying anything about their plans for the Elise makes it even more likely.

Incidentally the Europa was given the full road test treatment in Autocar this week and gets a decidedly lukewarm review - only 3 stars. Sadly I can't see them making much money on that car.

Id put my name down for a 2+2 in an instant. Theres a def market out there for the dad that needs an extra seat now and again.

Nearly bought an Excel until I found out the baby seat doesnt fit in the back :(
