didn't realise you'd sorted the HGF mate, top work Sounds like a bit of a steal!

Yup got the HGF issue fixed without too much of a problem just a bit of delay because I was on holiday. Was actually very easy, the way a V8 is set up means that you can change the head gaskets without interfering with the timing gear which makes the whole job a lot easier than a K. Turned out that about half the head bolts were only finger tight.

The only problem with the project is that since I got it all back together I canâ€™t persuade it to run on petrol. I recon I must have jolted wiring somewhere but have no idea where and since the fuel system was modified to allow it to deal with LPG I canâ€™t even use the LR wiring diagrams to diagnose the problem.

Anyway I have been running it on LPG without a problem and will get round to sorting the petrol issue eventually. Still recon it was a grand well spent and like the Liz running one is an education.

Mine's a getting old BMW Compact (:oops: oh the shame of it).... could do with some new dampers though - and gets me round.

I replaced the head unit only as the speakers to my ears are quite good. A cheap lead for my MP3 works a treat . Its quite long so you have to resist the temptation to hang yourself on a long journey .

know what you mean. just spent 4 hours in the bloody thing

managed to only suffer one hour of actually driving it though. the last week has been hard work on the body and wasn't capable of driving first thing

I have an A4 Avant as my day to day car although I use the liz a lot the A4 is great for long trips, Scout camps and the baby's gear. G has a 306 meridian TD which has everyhing required and keeps going. The Meridian was a really good spec, basically a 5 door DTurbo with 1/2 leather etc.

I use mostly charlenes smart roadster which for the past 6 months has been brilliant, elise like weight and handling with 50 mpg. Unfortunatly the fan blowers just packed up and its 600 quid to sort, so my initial impression is starting to drift somewhat.

It is (maybe) the connectors in behind the dash - they use rods and cables - on my bros they were often coming adrift and the merc garage the first time said it need a lot of £ work. We dismantled and put his back together a few times!
