I use the TomTom for shuffling about and i find that its fairly accurate identifying fixed gatso cameras..so long as they aint a new one! I have considered purchasing the camera update pack that they can send you..with info on locations etc. but

me thinky not really worth it as ;
1 - dont drive like muppet in town
2 - prob best getting another 'stealth' device for dash

left the other one in car when sold it (

)
Does anyone use the TomTom or others for this or is it just radar?

I use my Navman F20.. it's not always in the car, but if I know I'm going somewhere I don't usually go then I'll take it since it alerts me to 'points of interest'
Don't normally bother if I know I'm going on the usual roads. Just gotta watch for the mobile traps.

Yeah, know what you mean....mobile units pose the problem.....previous car was big and the loud pedal let you know if you were 'creeping up' the speedo...this go kart dont......the induction sounds like Stuka dive bomber no matter what im doing

so i dont know if im at the magic 6-7mph+ although colleagues in the anti joy patrol state they ignore till 10mph. (but not to be taken as a rule

I went past a mobile scamera near Edinburgh Airport (just as you come off Newbridge Roundabout heading to Edinburgh) a while back... parked in the lay-by about 20yds from where it goes to National Speed Limit. (tell me that wasn't motivated by money)
Obviously, everyone is starting to get there speed up just before hitting the mark. I pulled out to overtake then saw it... doing over the limit... but no ticket. I know of 2 others that got done the same day, 5 & 6mph over respectively...

i use the snooper sapphire for the camera locator and i'm very happy with it.
try the SIRIUS from snooper. its a combination of GPS + Camera locate. and i think there is some kind of offer going on.

Just remember that the vast majority of speeding income comes from scameras in town in 30mph limits - it only takes a second of poor concentration and you get the extra tax.
If I recall you can get the "points of interest" downloads regularly from pocketgpsworld for the princely sum of just £20 a year!
(I use a road-angel (very good database) but i must admit that i;m considering getting a "laser parking sensor system", but then i think that i'd just end up ignoring the limit, and there's no technology to stop the unmarked police car following you!
hmmmm.

shug's b'day run... i got my first "SMILE U R IN CAMERA!!!" from glasgow. 30 zone (was keeping 40)!
after a month i shifted my house and during which i lost the form, strathclyde police had sent. i got in touch with the strathclyde and updated my postal address and requested them to send a copy to my new address (which they didnt). a month after that i got in touch with DVLA and sent my license and counter part and asked them to update... funnily they sent back the new license with the updated postal address and NO POINTS!! been about 7 months now... looks like i got away with it.

Buying a detector that 'warns' you about radar/laser is a waste of money as it's pretty likely that by the time you react, you're already caught. Now a garage door opener is another thing altogether.....

I have a garage door opener, of the push button variety (for my garage). I thought it was just radiowaves... I've heard people talk about garage door openers in the past but just couldn't figure out it would do anything with a laser...
Highly illegal obviously, but I don't get the theory.

the item you need is a laser diffuser, it's a different sort of garage door opener, but I dunno how it works exactly. Seems to imply that you can open any suitably equipped garage door which is plain daft. Problem would be that it would be pretty straight forward to prove that a: you fitted it and b: you don't have a garage door to open like that
I read somewhere that if the gun comes up with an Error of a certain type they can do you anyway but some of the diffusers are supposed to spoof the gun instead of jamming.
Allegedly if you get the right size and spec of germanium diode and reverse the current through it you can get a pretty significant amount of RF interference, enough to feck up GATSOs and radar guns....

The one i'd get is the laser parking sensor - cos you can prove to the fuzz at the side of the road that it works.
The guns just get an error message and can't lock onto the car. - I've read somewhere though that when this happens they enter your number into a database which they all share, and if the same numberplate comes up too many times you end up getting your car impounded and searched.
i read this in quite a few places so i don't think its just scaremongering.

..... so. The only fool-proof method is to keep within the speed limit.
