Driving in the Snow
Driving in the Snow
Just had my first experience driving in the snow with the Elise, that was an eye opener
. Driving back from my folks, going down the Parkway in Aberdeen sideways with on coming traffic = FOOKING SCARY!!!
For the people who don’t know the parkway, its a longish sweeping 'S' bend going downhill. Lucky only nudged the curb, so hopefully haven't done any damage.
Take it easy out there folks.

Scary = Adrenalin,
Adrenalin = Good
Biggest hazard in the snow is the other road users.
Best if you can keep near the centre of the road, as the gutter will pull you in. only problem is doing that is the proximity to other road users. Best keep as much space all around you at all times as possible. Be wary of loons coming up behind too quick, and always try to have an escape route, to avoid other's crashes.... all good in theory.
I would always be ready to grab the hand brake to catch understeery moments. Also handy to chuck car sideways if it wont stop... generally it will slow more sideways. Go find a big empty car park and have some fun... dukes pass is usually good

I had my first Elise/Snow experience the first day I got the car! The first freaking day!!!
I was going sideways almost all the time, before getting stuck on that hill in Oxgangs - was having a nightmare about leaving my newly purchased pride and joy out in the middle of oxgangs abanonded for neds to piss and jump on!
Thankfully, after a few cars had cleared the way I managed to slingshot around a corner and up the hill! then proceeded home at around 20mph.
Dont think I slept for a few days after that
Snow's a challenge in the elise alright!

That was the main thing I was worried about. I was trying to keep the nose pointing away from the on coming traffic, towards the curb, hence i just nudged it going round the corner. Admittedly, i was playing around on the roundabouts, which was funDominic wrote:Biggest hazard in the snow is the other road users.
Haven't been down there in years, I do know the coppers go down there quite often to chase out the bouley bashers.skellyjohn wrote:Kev, can you still get onto the car park at Aberdeen Exibition Centre? I've had a few shots at spinning the car round on it. ITS MASSIVE!! And not a bollard or lampost in sight.
I take it you've been down there recently thinfourth
