If you want something truely different go and try a elan the old one not the front wheel drive one. An original one on skinny tyres, yes most things will go hurtling past yu but the handling and steering are brilliant.
Never confuse handling with roadholding either.
But 14k to replace the caterham then i would be straight off to radical, secondhand prosport.
Excluding an elise/vx/ caterham etc
