Couldnt find my keys the other day, and only have one key and one alarm fob so was bricking it incase they had disappeared. Last resort, checking the jeans I had on which had just been through a wash and dryer - keys in pocket.
Alarm keyfob amazingly still works fine, but I dont want to chance it - where can I get a replacement programmed in? Anyone know the procedure? Its a S1 cobra.
Cheers,
JJ

Buy a replacement off ebay and programme it yourself if it's the same as mine.

How do you programme in keys? I have not got a manual, and I dont have anything other than the keyfob. I read there is something you plug into the steering column but I dont have that either.

With mine you just programme from another keyfob. I think some S1s had a touch key though.

I will research further, cheers. But I can guess now mine will be one that needs something I dont have.

you should have a touch key for the alarm and the instruction s are in the service manual. It's dead easy fobs should cost about £10 off ebay

Nope, not got one of those. All I have is a key and a fob.
Any other ways round it?

It's easy. Get the new fob off Ebay. I got one but it took a while to arrive. And by then i'll have posted the programming instructions. As Stephen said, get up to a key cutting place and get a spare fuel and std vauxhall key. It took me almost a year to get off my ass and get a spare key and fob sorted out so your not alone

You will need a touch key, I have the 1st cat 1 cobra for the S1 which doesn't have programable fobs, I priced up a whole new key set a while ago through murrays in glasgow and I'm sure the touch key came in at 50quid, if you don't have an alarm code(which I didn't) they will charge you around 5-7quid for this to be released, you need to provide VIN number etc. as it turned out Lotus had registered my car wrongly ie the VIN and the alarm code that was released didn't tie in therefore I put off getting another fob, could have pushed it as it was there fault but I got side tracked by other things.

You may be able to get round the touch key thing by having your fob cloned. I'm not sure.
For a fuel key you will struggle, the only place I could get one was crockets.
