Robin, 18th is correct. I am planning to do the test day. However, found out this week that I might be in the US and I won't fly back till the Friday. Might have to get my car taken up to Oulton and fly back into Manchester Airport and test in the afternoon. Never driven Oulton - meant to be a great circuit.

It is an awesome circuit - are you going to be OK to find someone to drive/trailer your car up there?

Just remember to drive it on TOCA or whatever first because it's quite technical.

Cheers,
Robin

Already had an offer from Andy Blacklock to trailer it up for me, but can't seem to find flights direct to Manchester, so it looks like I'll have to fly back in on Friday to Heathrow and drive straight up to Oulton. Testing is new qualifying :) Don't have any games with it on - haven't used my Xbox in a few years.

Just waiting for work to get their act together.

Where are you starting from in the US?

Anyway, assuming it's the normal overnight flight you should be out of the airport by 10:00. It's a 3 hour drive from LHR to Oulton Park, so you *could* sign up for afternoon testing, or at least you should be able to squeeze in some pax laps in one of the cars.

Now, whether or not you'll be awake is another question!

My advice is two beers and a sleeping tablet in the airport before you board, then one of those foam wrap around cushions, the padded blind fold, and pull the blanket up over your head. Also add a sign "wake me up and die" or similar ;-)

Cheers,
Robin

I will be over in San Jose - San Francisco

10hr flight, would have to get the night flight (1930) as Virgin flight leaves too early (1630). Arrive in the UK at lunchtime, as you say, blat it up to Oulton and see if I can get out for a few laps late afternoon.

Sounds like you a pro at the power napping :D

West coast. Bummer. Gave all that up the best part of 10 years ago and haven't looked back ;-)

You had better book somewhere comfy to sleep on Friday and an early night for you - the second race is going to be a killer with the jet lag you will have (gets worse the older you get too!).

I'll probably be there for testing supporting the TSE entrants ... I can always warm the car for you :-)

Robin, you going to make it down now??

I will be going down thursday night for a full days testing on friday. Need to stop my car oversteering like a barsteward when the tyres get too hot.

I'll look into hotels for TSE

Yeah I think I will - I spoke to Katie and I think she figures if I have to have a mid-life crisis, playing at being a racing team is a good one ...

I do have to figure out whether work will be an issue, though it shouldn't be, so on balance I hope to make the testing. I think Mr G. is thinking of trying to do some work on Friday morning, but he said he could do that from his mobile office (the bus ;-)).

I'll be taking the bus, so if you have spare wheels, tools, fluids, etc. that you want shuttled down, give me a shout.

Are you going to get a geo done or what?

Cheers,
Robin

Post-race beers in Edinburgh - nice plan - means making good time home, and as I will be in the bus, I guess you'll be getting the first rounds in while I am still somewhere around Carlisle!
