Guy on seloc thats doing his own paid £1700 for the bits and I dont think Craigs was that much more but was awesome spec so dont think thats a great bargain.....

I assumed an engine would be £5k+...

If a honda lump is so cheap, where does the real cost of the conversion lie? Labour? Ancillaries? Warranty? Expertise? All of the above?

Not that I'm in any position to do it myself. Or at all for that matter...

The real cost of the conversion is in the development, 2.5k on engine/box, around 2.5k on parts and around 1.5k on labour the rests on vat and R&D. I dont know if these values are correct its just the basis I used when evaluating my own conversion. When you break it down its actually quite good value for money, downsides for me were getting replacement parts at reasonable prices (once its out of warranty) and getting a local garage capable to carry out any repairs, dont want to travel 300miles for a service kind of thing. Also I like the challenge of doing it yourself.
