Spa can catch you out!
I span on that kerb before. It is like hitting ice in the wet.
if you run onto it with any steering/throttle/brake inputs then you will spin off in the wet. I was on a cooling down lap before coming into the pits, another car was coming up behind me, so i let off the brakes to go through a bit quicker and get out his way. started to run a bit wide, so steered right to drive over the kerb straight, but even the bump was enough to put me into a 1080 degree spin. scary stuff.
In my opinion, he ran out onto the kerb with steering lock still on, the car went sideways, and he had no way of putting on opposite lock quick enough to catch slide. Also, he didnt lock the wheels, which would have sent him stright down the track instead of into the barrier

Is it not possible that something has failed on the car? I have just had a look at it and, whilst no expert, it looks fairly unusual, almost if something broke sending him off into the scenery.

That's one place where ABS doesn't help - when you *want* the car to slide!
I really feel for the guy - sure he made a mistake - perhaps turned in a bit early and a bit eager on the gas in the corner, and sure he should have lifted earlier to tighten his line rather than risk the green ice but still one hell of a bang - I bet it hurt like hell when he hit that wall, and luckily for him the car rotated enough to avoid the dreaded 90 degree impact.
Another great reason to race about in sheds! They don't handle any better, but the cost of an accident like that is much lower.
I like the gulf colours, BTW
Cheers,
Robin

i dont think so, it looks like he ran wide onto the green run off and it was all over after that
