It's an offical omega croc leather strap, but to be honest i think it's a bit too slim underneath the wrist so i'm going to try it on a Di Modell Rallye and see how i get on with that.

The previous owner also supplied the bracelet but i'm keen to keep it very different from my seamaster.

Lovely Speedmaster, I'm just about to buy a 'proper' watch and this is one of the two I'm going to buy. :thumbsup

Another vintage Omega(not mine)

A neighbour knows I have an interest in watches and mentioned that he was thinking about selling the watch he received as a 21st birthday gift from his parents in 1960. It is a 9k gold Omega, about 34m in diameter. It is on a bracelet of the period although there are no omega markings on it. The watch and bracelet both appear to have hallmarks but I couldn't quite make them out - I forgot my lupe

He has been to one place and they have told him it might be worth £4k-£5k. The condition is excellent as he has hardly used it over the past 50 years. He now finds the bracelet uncomfortable so is looking to chop it for something cheaper and on leather.

It would be interested to hear any thoughts as to which model it actually is and what the value may be.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

:thumbsup for the Mini Monster! Great colours!

What's the strap on the OM? It looks like just what I want for my BM... full width, but with a sort of cutaway notched bit to fit 20mm. A normal 20mm strap looks too dainty.

The strap on the OM is a Di Modell Chronissimo, some more picture here http://forums.watchuseek.com/f239/di-mo ... 57939.html really suits the monster. and i got it for the reason you mentioned as it is full width

Can be bought from here http://www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk/DiModell- ... ck-O0.html

This thread continues to run................

I am liking the Monster as it's a fun watch with supreme build quality at a bargain price

Donkey

The Speedy should have a bracelet on it
:D

Stewart

Take the back of the Omega and get the serial number
Log on to Omaga website and do a search of the vintage watches
I think your friend is in for a disappointment on value ............looking at similar 50's/60's watches and they are currently around £800 mark
The price appears to be dependant on the movement (CAL 351) and the carat value of the gold
I don't suppose he will be too bothered as it's a 21st Gift..................if he is.............melt the fokker down as gold is fetching £11 per gram

:cheers
