Re: New car at last! :) Suspension?
They got as far as final testing prototypes (Noops was in the test group) before canning them, as they couldn't get the build consistency they wanted. Assuming these are designed differently, or they have another manufacturing option (reds were outsourced build to a Nitron design).

Re: New car at last! :) Suspension?
The issue was actually down to noise and I'm sure it could have been sorted but Guy got a bit pissed off with how some of the Beta testers behaved so decided it wasn't worth the hassle. The Reds were a great product with excellent damping but the noise issue spoilt the party.Shug wrote:They got as far as final testing prototypes (Noops was in the test group) before canning them, as they couldn't get the build consistency they wanted.
Realistically, I would think it will be early next year before the Street Series dampers are ready for general release.

"Hello Mike,
The Nitron Street Series shocks will be released by October.
If you do track days we would recommend to have NTR single adjustable shocks.
The Street Series shocks will come with one spring rate. The spring rates for Elise S1 will be 275lbs on front and 350lbs on rear.
Best regards,

Good to know, thanks. Still stiffer than standard or LSS bilsteins then.scib4 wrote:Reply from Nitron;woody wrote:The S2 LSS isn't particuarly road biased in that it has very harsh damping. Re: New car at last! :) Suspension?
Any idea what spring rates are on the single adjustment ones?

Re: New car at last! :) Suspension?
Do you mean the Nitron NTR one ways? If so, they come standard with 325/400 f/r but most people found them better with 400/500 or 450/550 springs. To be honest there's no way I would spend money on Nitron NTRs with standard valving. If you're going to spend that sort of money then it makes much more sense to get them from Hoffmans with their valving as it is a massive massive improvement over the standard valving.scib4 wrote:Any idea what spring rates are on the single adjustment ones?

Thought i would up date this thread. Since fitting the Koni Reds i managed to sneak onto the LOT day on Monday for the last 2 dry hours. Got to say really not as bad as i was expecting and i thought they were going to be shocking from what i have read! Just goes to show how bad the S2000 was on trackMike Scib wrote:Standard Koni Reds now on

Took Mckeanns advice with a bit of trail braking going into the corners, Awesome!! especially when you get it right with the car just balanced on the edge of oversteer
Can't wait to get my S2 LSS on now

25/45 brackets.
My car is at 105/115 F/R with plenty of droop travel. If you need a handy regarding them, give me a shout again.

That is soft as butter... and not a real reflection on relative ride comfort.Mike Scib wrote:Reply from Nitron;woody wrote:The S2 LSS isn't particuarly road biased in that it has very harsh damping. admittedly I'm running the Hofmann's set up with 550lb's on front and 750lb's on the rear, but they have the lighter helper springs on both ends. The combination with these helper springs (which are not quite fully coil bound at rest) is excellent on road. You get a little compliance on small bumps and ripples and because the damping balance between bump and rebound has been adjusted by Hofmann's to suit the Elise specifically the ride is excellent.
Standard Lotus Nitrons are specced by length, so if you have a land rover with the same length shock it will have the same bump rebound ratio... i.e. not optimised for kerb hopping light weights like the Elise.
There is in my opinion no suspension set up better for the Elise. As far as cost goes, yes there expensive. Maybe Hofmann's will do their own version of the new street shock. Or possibly as Nitron are saying that these new shocks are specific to the Elise then maybe they have changed the balance on these new ones.
Your welcome to come out for a run in mine to see haw the car feels on the Hofmann's set up.
I run at 95mm front and 105mm rear with an uprated 1" hofmans anti roll bar as well. (now that's a piece of kit......)
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
Re: New car at last! :) Suspension?
Btw Mike, check your LSS adjustment rings are free to turn before fitting them to the car; they're bad for seizing. One of mine took 600+ lbft and didn't budge (It's an on-going saga
) but the sleeve and cateram rings that can be machined to suit are available from Bilstein.

And god knows what the geo is set at at the moment

The Konis were never so bad on general handling, it was just their short lifespan and early clonkiness that let them down...I did several KH days on mine and had no regrets. The main thing is you got out for a shottie at all, so well done thereMike Scib wrote:Thought i would up date this thread. Looks like I may be babysitting my brother's Honda S2000 while he is on hols, so I think I shall have to be careful if I take it out to, er, "free the brakes off a little"

Believe the Wiley Ocelot, otherwise known as the legend that is Steve Williams, also has his own Nitron set-up now, according to Cpt Iddon
