New Knockhill "Time Attack lite" series for trackdayers
Re: New Knockhill "Time Attack lite" series for trackdayers
Interested on the fuel side. I never take fuel to the track, so would expect that I could fill up at the Drum with what I needed with no chance of running out on track.
An Elise driving to the track can not take 5 gallon jerrys with it, you will not know how many laps you will be doing in the day with run offs, so how would that work?

Just as long as you weigh the car with as little in it as possible you will never be under your target weight only over.

Tut - you can run with as much or as little fuel as you want, but you cannot give your race weight as the car + you + a full tank - as you'll be lighter by the time you do your lap(s).
Its up to you guys to sort your own fuel needs, or how many laps you'll do in 3 20min sessions + final.
We normally take about 100l of fuel with us
using 20l at a time, but less for a 1 flying lap final

Yep that makes more sense.
Apart from when you brim an Elise up, you never know how much fuel you have anyway, the S1 fuel gauge is pretty mickey mouse, as with N1 and N3 it varies between cars and is guesswork on its way down.

It is dilemma, particularly for the lighter cars where there's a bigger fiddle factor.
Personally, I'm just thinking of this of this as a tackday with stopwatches and wasn't intending to get too serious
. I'm still to weigh the car but It looks like I'll be in Class C, but I may go for Class B once I see what the competition is. I don't particularly want to be out of kilter with the competition, which may happen if similar power-to-weight ratios are arrived at from different directions.

David - there is going to be a day organised at Performance HQ in Dalgety Bay where cars will be RR'd and weighed for £50. 2nd March.
I'll post up details when finalised.
No's will be limited and of course folk will have to confirmed their interest in the series (via FB or TrackScotland).

Speak to Matty at Wallace Performance. They were contacted a while back and agreed to the £50 for run and weigh in, but Stuart (from KH) was back in touch with them again today.
Best to give them a call and discuss.
BUT I have to stress this isnt an offer that is open to folk that arent doing the series
I can pop you on the list of interested parties if you want.... http://www.trackscotland.co.uk/forums/v ... 06&start=0

That is the attitude that Knockhill are trying to promote, a fun introduction or transition from track days to sprints and maybe tempt folks to Hillclimb or race.David wrote:

I'm hoping we can have the weigh scales available during the free practice sessions and that any changes in class can be accommodated before the timed qualifying runs.

That would be my attitude as well Renny, not bothered about which Group I would be in if I was allowed to take part as it would not alter my lap times or win me the Championship, but I could still dick the usual suspects regardless.

Looking at the variety of cars posted in the prospective competitors list, this looks like it'll be a great event to watch.
A <150bhp class would be excellent for completely unmoddified cars like a basic S1, Fiesta ST or maybe even some classic stuff.
Hats off to anyone competing, definitely going to go along to watch this!

Re: New Knockhill "Time Attack lite" series for trackdayers
I might see if I can get along to the May event, assuming I don't go up to Fintray for the hillclimb. Not sure how competitive an ex-Academy Caterham might be in Class D - say 540kg maybe, 15kg of fuel plus me at 50kg, say 600kg, with maybe around 110whp (120bhp ish at the flywheel)...
Does anyone know anything about the suggestion of being able to borrow a transponder? They're not exactly cheap, so that would make a big difference for those that also have to fork out for full race gear.
