I think Rory should take the role, dump Jordan and Sabine, job done.
Agree entirely.
Agree with the above. They should keep the "extra gear" on iplayer. I think it is a good platform to allow fresh talent a chance to shine.

So what new presenters would make a decent job?

Well for once i seem to be agreeing with the majority in regarding Rory Reid as the only one who has come out of this series with any real credit.

P.S.

Did anyone else notice how tiny the E-type looked next to the F-type at the end of the section the Sunday before last?

So, for a bit of fun, who would you all like to see replace Evans?

Quite a tough one, someone with some driving skills, some charisma and some presenting talent...

I'll suggest Jenson Button... or Martin Brundle. Or, I know, what about that other guy,.. Jeremy Clarkson? :blackeye

If we're looking for a Clarkson replacement, with similar qualities; Popular, knows something about cars, posh, knows DC well, Murdoch columnist, portly, purveyor of the extra marital affair, advocate of inner city cycling to reduce cars on the roads, prone to the odd racist outburst/controversial broad brush comment about a people, used to media intrusion, comfortable in front of a camera, can read the script but sometimes make up their own, known to have fraught relationships with colleagues and also, crucially, looking for a new career. How about Boris?

JB would be cool but he's no track record as an anchor presenter.

Nobody. There were already too many presenters. Let Rory take the reins, with Chris Harris and LeBlanc there too. Dump the rest. Job done.

I liked Evans, though he was trying too hard.

For me, if this season has shown anything, it's that Top Gear doesn't really need a lead presenter. Rory is decent, as is Harris and they play well together with Harris being the ultra geek and Rory reigning it in to normality. LeBlanc is good when there is room for multiple takes (ie outside of the live studio), though they need to cut out the Joey and American references at some point presumably! Sabine and Jordan are a bit of a waste of space.

The odd thing for me is that the weakest part of the show seems to be the 2 stars on the sofa. Star in a reasonably priced car was always the worst part of TG, but with Evans being a chat show host I thought it'd improve...

The best shows have been those with the least pissing around, which is no surprise to me.

Extra Gear is well worth a watch.

please NO!

he's a nice guy but NOT a TV front-man.

I think Rory, once he has found his feet, is good enough to hold the show, Monkey likewise is finding his TV leggs, and realistically, has the knowledge/ability/style to review cars as well as having a sence of humor (and the driving credibility such that manufacturers are not concerned about him binning their one-off super expensive cars!).

The 'star' segment just needs to be dropped, it's sad, crap and just a promo vehicle for whatever film/book/TV show being pushed.

This last point is probably exactly why it's still in there. Bet there will be some additional budget internally at the BBC that having an interview slot gives them access to - some loophole they used originally. For that reason, I'd be surprised if it goes - that said, it's a big enough money spinner under its own steam that perhaps budget isn't an issue any more - although knowing the Beeb's red tape... Dunno how well it goes down with the non car enthusiast demographic though - which is a bigger component of the shows viewing figs.

I like that bit (or at least I did when Jezza did it), got to remember this is not a car show, it's an entertainment show with cars.

Do wish they hadn't changed the track, the new one is pants.

I used to, when they had interesting guests, but then it just turned into whoever was doing the PR rounds that week, Actors we had never heard of, and who have zero interest in motoring etc etc.

Not long now to GT on Amazon, it's got a lot to live up to, but somehow I think they will deliver.
