Just want to make sure Ian knows what he's bought, and paid a fair price for it. If they've taken him for hundreds of pounds he will surely want to know he's been scammed.

If it was anywhere near 1550 Euros

Not my taste either, too bling and fussy but each to their own. Will it still look good and be worth the money in X amount of years?

For around that price range there are a few nice pre-owned Omega's on Watchfinder, but I'd probably go for a Kennett or Jorg Gray as mentioned, in fact you could have two or three for around 1500 euros

I paid a small fraction of that price. Very small fraction and I know it's each to their own but I was quite keen on the look. It was between the Tissot and this and this ended up £200 cheaper in price than the Tissot I had previously mentioned.

I have very thin wrists so what I go for needs to be relatively small in face size otherwise it may look good on it's own but it will look silly on me.

Dad and I looked at a few and spent some time researching. The mechanism for this watch is well supported after the research and I am keen on the look, I did originally want a square face but I haven't yet found anything bad said about the make or watch itself, all reviews were positive.

Thanks for the feedback though.

I'm glad you didn't pay RRP for it. Had me worried for you. :)

You did well. :thumbsup

No way would I have let him pay RRP.

However the movement does read and review well, and if he likes the style, for a couple of hundred quid he should be OK. This thread is for watch lovers more than everyday watch wearers, but it was invaluable for making sure that we did not get a fake, i.e. most of the Tissot's were, the twats even use the genuine pictures on their sites and openly lie in telling you that they are genuine.

It is Clare who is actually buying it as a belated birthday present, so it had to be around the £200 mark.

Now back to real life with a bare wrist.

As we seem to have a few watch geeks in the SE collective, maybe you can assist in a decision. I currently have a Breitling Chronomat and a Seiko Monster, both steel braceleted divers style watches but I now fancy something different.

Looking around I have shortlisted the following two watches but (and here's where I'd appreciate some advice) I can't understand the difference in price.

I prefer the Glycine Incursore but the Christopher Ward C11 is half the price. They are similar in size, leather strap, sapphire crystal and share the same movement. What about the Glycine commands the extra cash? Is it just a brand thing or am I missing something?

The only thing I can see is that some models of the Incursore are 200m tested, which the C11 isn't. CW do put a lot of really nice detail into their cases though and the C11 is no exception. Mixed finishes, nice bevelled edges... dem screws! I love the finish on the crown and the buckle too on that C11.

CW are good value for money... they sell online and keep costs to a minimum and apply reasonable markup. I'm unashamedly a fan of them. I love my C5 Auto and I'd add that C11, a black/tan C8 Pilot and a C7 Rapide to the collection in an instant!

Basically what I'm saying is there is no way in hell you'd be disappointed with the C11.

The Glycine looks cracking though. Tough choice.

Tried this on a couple of weeks ago in the US and it was AWESOME. Most amazing watch to 'watch'.

Bottom left is a quartz seamaster mid from the 90s. The middle bottom is a manual wind Speedmaster Pro "moon watch" 8)

Collecting watches can be dangerous

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
