Great to hear from you. Let me know when you get back home, I'll send you my rebuild spreadsheet to alleviate the boredom ;-)

Very best from rainy Linlithgow,

Another update:

Went in to see Alan today, and he's looking immensely better. He even has colour (his heamoglobin was very low and his bp was quite low this morning but is very good now.

It took him a long time to write his post earlier so asked me to tell those who have contacted him that he is finding it difficult to reply to everyone so please don't think he's ignoring you. It's quite fiddly typing with his left hand.

While we were there he was taken to surgery to look at his arm, and if they feel the swelling has come down enough they will stitch it back up. So no visitors for tonight I'm afraid!

If you want to visit him, let me know and I can tell you when the best time would be,!

Cheers again for all yor support!!

Jen

Jen / Alan,

Just switched on after coming back from hols, so shocked to read your 1st post - skipped throught the 9 pages to the last page and very happy to see Alan seems to be recovering.

Best wishes and if you or Alan need anything, I'm only 5mins from ARI - just shout.

Alan/Jen,

Hope all is working out, glad to hear Alan seems to be heading in the right direction, and Jen i hope you are coping, im sure things will turn out right for you - after all, there are nights out to be planned and trackdays to be enjoyed.

just serves as a reminder how easy these things are to do.

im sure your both well covered for help etc, but if you need anything, just let me know, im allways out on the road with work so i am pretty flexible with anything that needs to be done in and around the aberdeenshire area.

i look forward to seeing Alan fighting fit and back to his usual comedic self.

best wishes.

We don't seriously expect replies. The odd grunt will do.

 That would be ace!!!! Ha ha!!! Although tbh, I think it was the adrenaline that kept me going. Are you in St Johns Mike?

I found out today that it was his brachial artery he sliced in two and the radial nerve that was too badly damaged to fix so he can't move his hand up nor down. Just in case any of you are interested! (Sorry squeamish folks!)

Yes, Work in a few different specialities I run the Hand Surgery Theatre and I also work in Plastics and Orthopaedic Surgery. We do lots of this type of thing but usually to Hands rather than arms, they tend to be done at the Royal in Edinburgh.

Any type of Circular saw injury is always a PITA because its never a clean cut and usually involves a lot of destruction of tissue. Sorry I made light hearted comments to begin with didn't realise quite how serious it was.

If I can be of any help or your after any advice please feel free to contact me

No worries, I may take you up on that actually Mike, I like to know how it all works and stuff so expect to get a lot of questions from me over the next few months!!

Alan is now out of surgery and it went very well. The swelling had went down enough to stitch (actually staple) his arm together and he didn't need a skin graft either! Woop woop!! He now has a drain, he still had his catheter but was hoping to get it out after we left. :thumbsup

Visitors from now on are more than welcome!

Jen (a much happier wife)

PS-Campbell, Alan brother works in Logica and knows you!! He's back to work tomorrow.

Wouldn't be Brian, based in Edinburgh, would it? Small world then, eh!

I am not in the office much now with the new role I've changed to, but will look out for him next time for sure :-)

That's the one Campbell, Brian is my Brother-in-Law. He's been a great hand the last couple of days. And his girlfriend is a nurse so he has been asking her all sorts of questions about it!!

I called Alan this morning, he's feeling good, getting his catheter out today and his drain tomorrow or maybe Sat, and he's out of his gownie and wearing his shorts and t-shirt. Good-oh!!
