sh*t, Bad luck Neil! I hope it's a quick year for you mate... What gets me is that you get a year ban and £300 fine but if you got sent down for a year you'd be out in 6??? on that basis is there a way to get a ban shortened? A guy involved in a fight where my mate got killed who was charged as responsible was sent down for 9 months and out in 4.5 and you have not harmed anyone but as a consequence will lose your livelyhood and freedom to go where you please when you please. This Justice system is really screwed up!

Ouch - ban and resit is sore . Is there no option for a retraining/ education course to reduce the length of ban.

Drunk drivers are regularly offered a course to have 12 month ban reduced to 9 ( at their own expense).

It is so unjust that 'joyriders' in stolen cars regularly get banned for less when an otherwise responsible and legal driver gets a heftier ban for an indiscretion.

whatever you do dont be tempted to drive whilst banned, a good friend of mine got 1 month in jail and a further 3 year ban.

yes he's a twat but nobody deserves jailtime for a victimless driving offence.
