Hey knowledgeable collectors!

I'm looking for a little advice. It's the old boys birthday next month and I'd like to get him something he'll really enjoy (instead of another golf club or bottle of whiskey!)

He's always liked the Omega Seamaster so I got to thinking it'd be a nice gift to give him this year. I popped down to Walkers in Dundee at the weekend to have a look but the cheapest new quartz one they have is £1500, which they can't discount.

Now, I've got no issue going second hand to save myself some money (I get my thriftiness from him in any case) but I'd rather not buy from eBay. TZ requires you to register and have a post count (50 I think?). So, my question is this. What is the best, reliable resource on the web to locate just such an item?

I'm away just not to scour the web just now but any pointers would be much appreciated.

:cheers

There is a cash-for-gear shop near me on Brompton Road that has decent stock; pretty sure there was a Seamaster in the window last week. I`ll have a look. Similarly if you find one down here (more likely than up north) I am happy to take a look.

Just popped along for a look and its a Seamaster 007 model at £1,950. Bit pricey but I am sure there is room for movement.

So after my trusty Seiko Divers has started losing 5 mins a day, I've been on a long search for a replacement. If I could bring myself to have done it i would have just bought a new Rolex Sub, and as Greg has said, I didn't need to pay 5k for a new one.

Anyway, long story short, some quick research after a recommendation from Mr T Paine, a bottle of red later and I had acquired this Steinhart with ceramic bezel. The website states no chance of one until Nov, but much to my delight it arrived out of the blue today. Absolutely delighted with it and for £300 notes it is a cracking buy. Not sure what the watch loving fraternity on S.E will think, but that aside, I am delighted with it!
