Re: New car at last! :)‏ Suspension?

Post by Mike Scib » Sat Oct 10, 2009 7:40 pm

Little up date...

Well i now have the S2 LSS on and the Geo done to 340R road settings, on Frolics it was excellent but if you added a pax it total changed the car to a understeering pig! :? Yes i know it is probably down to technique but what a difference a pax can make

The Carbotechs were awesome on track with no fade at any point, however on road since returning they have been driving me insane with the squealing

Image

Since returning from Frolics i have removed another 2mm of camber shims from each side of the front which did help with turn in and got Mckeanns approval on track.

Mckeann, we were talking about 48/888's at the AMP3 day, did you say the biggest difference would be with turn in or rear end grip, pretty sure you said turn in.....more money maybe

The LSS, are definitely not as good on road compared to the LEDA's being far to harsh a ride IMO.

Last week i had the car at Ingliston sprint with TRS and still found the car to be understeery, probably not helped as i found it difficult to trail brake into a tight 90 degree corner. However still happy with the result being first with proper road tyres, oh and only 135bhp

1) 1:04:22 - Rog:- Evo 9
2) 1:05:40 - Donald:- Evo 8
3) 1:08:50 - Chris:- Evo 4
4) 1:09:27 - Si (borg):- EP3 Type R
5) 1:09:32 - Kenny:- Lotus Exige
6) 1:10:03 - Mike:- Lotus elise 135
7) 1:10:42 - Sanjoy:- Lotus 240R
8.) 1:12:09 - Tommy:- Accord Type R
9) 1:12:12 - Hambo:- Lotus elise series 1
10) 1:12:63 - Simon (82) :-FD2 Type R

A few more parts also fitted, first being a EP braided clutch hoses thanks to Walshy and Robin on Frolics :thumbsup

Next up after being home a week the rad went so had a EP ali rad fitted

Loving AA parts and labour, oh and Dan @ SPS :D

And finally last weekend i fitted the EP gear linkage kit as Robin advised me to do before FF  .....what a difference

Had a little blast today up to and around Muirkirk 8)

<excuses>my sprint time was nearly 1.5 secs off my best, I blame too many heat cycles on the rock hard rear tyres<excuses>

Where's that facepalm smiley?

Something made the 1.5 secs difference, certainly wouldn't have been a lack of talent :damnfunny I'm sticking with tyres.

Mike

As I had previously suggested, I always believed that a well peddled S1 135 Sport is as quick as a lardy assed S2 exige :D You have probably proved that :thumbsup

That's what I get for using Firefox's spell checker to correct my extremely poor spelling.

I have a funny feeling the car won't be looking as 'pristine' as that for long ;)

Did I see Kumho tyres on there?!

Indeed mate, £200 for a full set, can't argue with that IMO. However thinking about 888/48's next

Is true, that was the banter but I should admit to having to pull over on at least a couple of occasions to let you past me :) Honest, I was on cool down laps :P

BigD wrote:What do you think, for sale thread in about 2 months time?!
Wrong, it was 6 months!....and what a cracking 6 months they were

Since Frolics 08 in my drifty S2000 i had convinced myself (well Lynda) that a Elise was the way forward having previously talked my self out of one due to headgasket woes   So the hunt was on...

After a good few months looking which is really not like me as i normally have a car bought within a week of selling one, not helped by the fact i was changing my mind on a daily basis on what spec i was after. Eventually with the help of JJ, Ed and the SE massive :thumbsup , i (well Ed) eventually found what i had been looking for, a immaculate 135 Sport down in Newcastle.

Image

Over the 6 months covering about 8000 miles, most of which were on Frolics 09 where i fell in love as Frolics, plus the car was cracking. So much fun on track combined with the cheap running costs along with the road runs with Mr G's "scenic" routes to and from the tracks in the early morning sunshine made for a truly unforgettable experience :D 8)

Image

A few miles were also spent heading to and from Newcastle to Dans @ SPS, he really was a great help throughout going out his way to get the car booked in even popping in to mine to fix it on one occasion as he was in the area :thumbsup Oh! and not a head gasket problem in sight

Would i have another? With out doubt yes :D I miss the old girl already :( Just Hoping Kenny looks after and treats her with the love she deserves

So whats next? Maybe back to a 306 Rallye and turn it into a track car as i would like to do a few sprints this year 8) Ed, JJ your next challenge awaits

Image

Ps, looking for a white one this time

:cheers

I know I'm not the brightest but I didn't see an explanation for why you sold it?
