Love th 930 LEs

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I could look at this for hours
Re: Porker lovers
Interesting stats on the C4 I found out today whilst randomly browsing a couple of other car forums....(seems the question on C2 vs C4 is being asked all over the world right now!
)
I knew it was mostly rear biased in terms of the 4x4.. but didn't realise that in normal driving it's apparently 95% to the rear and only 5% to the front. It's only when the PSM kicks in (standard on the C4 but wasn't always standard on the C2)... that it sends more like 40% to the front. So if you turn the PSM off or it's not kicking in... does that make it 95% the same as a C2 but with a better looking body?!?!
Also interesting to read comments in car mags saying things like "a sense of mild understeer in a 2nd gear hairpin"... or " At first it seems slightly less agile, because wheel movements are bigger, but experience reveals that its handling is actually more neutral, less oversteery" and "The choice between C2 and C4 remains as complex as ever. The C4 is undoubtedly the more talented car, exuding an invincible air that many will find irresistible." Still can't find anyone saying it'll understeer off the road and into a ditch if it tries to keep up with a C2 though
Perhaps people are confusing less oversteery with understeer ...
For the record... I like the C2 as well. Just feel it's my duty as a C4 owner now to educate the muggles who appear to have misjudged it when the opportunity presents itself. Civic minded.. that's me!

Re: Porker lovers
Dave, before you start educating others, I suggest you educate yourself by actually driving the C2, not just reading articles/forum threads (no offense intended
).
BTW, no one here said the C4S will understeers off the road
It's just that it understeers more. C4S just doesn't have the same amount of initial turn in bite. I know the C4/s are almost RWD most of the time (like the Diablo VT) but they do drive differently. I don't know why but I have a feeling it's something to do with the diff and geo.
I mentioned about the understeer issue based on my experience rather than imagination/speculation, which you find in many of the internet comments.
ps less understeer has nothing to do with oversteer.

No probs Mass. I know you've come to an opinion based on experience and your requirements for what the car needs to do for you etc. I also know how much you like to go sideways so would be mightily surprised to see you in a C4 at KH!!!
My main reason for posting the above was that I was genuinely interested/surprised to hear how little the C4 puts to the front in normal conditions. Thought it was quite a relevant comment when the journo suggested that many people mistake less oversteery for understeer too. That sounds like the sort of thing I'd do... seeing as how I'm not a pro driver. Bet I'm not alone either.
With regards to the other stuff said about the C4... It's the people who spout the usual internet nonsense I feel I have to educate. You know.. the usual cheap interior comments, nonsense about saying only 2wd is acceptable because 4wd ruins the handling, has to be air cooled or it's not a 911 purist crap. Mine says 911 on it.. that's clear enough for me. Would love to have an original one in the garage one day.. and a 993 and a.. etc. but what I have now is what's right for my needs. It's still a bloody 911 though and I feel totally privileged to have it. I think those more fortunate often forget how special these cars are. Perhaps a couple of years in a £1000 Vectra would remind them.
I'd be delighted to have a shot of your C2 round KH though... not sure I'd be ready to hand you the keys to mine just yet though. The elise maybe.. but not my lardy C4!!
Cheers!
Dave.
p.s. I've driven a C2 and didn't notice any difference in oversteer/understeer compared to the C4 on the M8 and a few roundabouts

Re: Porker lovers
996 is very underrated PERIOD This will change in time
I think the build and paint qualities are well above the Lambo and Ferrari. The 911s are very very practical and on B roads just as fast as most other cars. All for 10-20k! Just a fun car to own and I like the way it looks too.
Dave, it will be better for you to drive my C2 on my local B roads. There are some very nice ones around here. I intend to organise a borders run in May/June.
BTW, the C4S will go sideways nicely at KH if you keep it on the road tyres (not the semi slicks).

What model of c2 & C4 was that comparing Dave? (996/997/991?)
I could be wrong but i think one of the car mags did a review like that a wee while ago.
Suspect given the incoming forecast you'll be delighted with the potential of 40% drive coming from the front

Good to see all marques have a S1 vs. S2 debate.
My friend also read some of those posts Dave and if you feel your C4 understeers take it to a geo specialist and get it dialled out to your liking. Bosh, a C4S with the handling you like/want in the car you like want. SEOT

Re: Porker lovers
A friend of mine has had loads of 911s going back to the '70's and he always prefers the C4.
The long and short of it is it is personal preference.
Being a bit tight with money and liking to think I am getting a bargain I'd go C4 Targa because it is the one that has depreciated the most
They cost a packet new and are now the same price as the rest.

Wrong decision? Lol.
I'm sure 99.999% of people you drive past will be thinking 'I'd love one of those'
Who cares about the other 0.001%?

It was a 996 comparison Andy .
If you ever want to do a 996 C4S vs 997 GT3 comparison... I'd be more than happy to swap cars for a while!!!
