Should've used him as well but went straight to the bank because Ruth worked there previously. Pretty painless so far but not completely signed, sealed and delivered yet so fingers crossed, given that ours isn't exactly what you would call straight forward!.

I have been passed BigD's name as well by Dom. We are looking at new builds with all that help-to-buy crap so need to know the ins and outs.

Seems he's the man in the know. :thumbsup

BigD is a miracle-worker. It's a mystery to me how he managed to get us our mortgage deal. I can only assume he spends his weekends sacrificing goats and chickens to the gods of lending, and deflowers countless virgins on a bed of mortgage application forms, in a shrine to the High Chief Arch-Priest in his local IFA lodge. Probably some chanting and incense and a funny handshake too.

(or maybe he just looks at moneysavingexpert.com, I don't know...)

You're all far too kind. :D

No miracles just good old fashioned hard work. Not at all easy these days and everything takes a looooong time.

I am using Thistle Removals from Buckie for the move, but their pricing does not make economic sense.

Ross works it out as £10/hr per man, he is planning on 3 or 4 men, and around 12 hours for the job. He must be paying his men at least £7/hr, ie minimum wage rates, so his bill would be 4 x £10 x 12 = £480. I reckon on it being a two day job, but even at 20 hrs it only comes out at £800. Pickfords and Shore Porters quoted £4K and £4.4K, so where is his profit coming from? 90 mile round journey in his biggest 40' van, I must be missing something.
