Spaniel's are mostly devoid of sense and can be as obedient as a cat ......their the yin & yang of dog ownership.........
:withstupid Couldnt agree more, our 2 yr old cocker is sooo unpredictable and definitely isnt the sharpest tool in the box.

We used to have a cocker (Mutley), a blue roan (Mostly dark grey/black with some white)... was a lovely dog. Very good natured although I believe that is not necessarily the norm for cockers. I know of 2 people who had nasty ones (both golden)...something to do with being quite in-bred or something.

He died at 7 unfortunately with a kidney issue (deficiency in white cells I think), which the vet said is actually quite common in spaniels. 1 yr later, an old neighbours blue roan had the same thing...

I would have got another cocker but they take a lot of grooming, esp around the ears.. Very often the old clippers had to make an appearance to remove matted bits. We resorted to pegging his ears back while he was eating.

Anyway, we got a lovely wee boxer after Mutley... what a wee cutey eh?

If I'd know just how big he was gonna turn out, I may have thought twice. This is him at 2yrs old... and he's filled out a bit since..

Show dogs can tend to be pretty stupid (as far as spaniels are concerned).. bred for looks... working dogs (bred for brains) are usually far better dogs.

No, hes a Great Dane. That was at 12 weeks. This one was about 10 months later, after taking some stretching potion.
