You don’t want to move and pay the penalty but they don’t know that. Say to them that there is an option:
1) they sort it quicker, which they can cos I’ve offered, purchased , mortgaged all in 3 weeks; or
2) you move and pay the penalty, which loses them business. You will obviously complain to the FSA with a view to getting your money back.
Best of luck.

Mandy said that a mortgage application can be done in a matter of hours if need be. (she didn't get in till quite late last night)
I'm sure BigD has have you all the correct buzz words to use like "fair" etc (I'm led to believe there's a "treating the customer fairly" act or such like)

Good point Mac, yes that is the new buzz word/phrase, I'd forgotten about that. The only problem is that could work against you if their standard turnaround times are 4 to 6 weeks, then it is not treating the other customers fairly if they push your app through quicker, if you see what I mean.mac wrote:Mandy said that a mortgage application can be done in a matter of hours if need be. Ive seen the mortgage advisors at my old branch save more money on the term of the loan for the customer than what the get-out fee was... Therefore the customer was not bothered about moving at all!Titanium S1 111S (gla) wrote:You don’t want to move and pay the penalty but they don’t know that.
And that was Cramond/Barnton branch so you are talking £££'s...

Donald - I started with the manager and he was just as obstructive as the call centre staff!!! We are now making some progress though.....
Do you know how buildings insurance works in a tenament flat? Does my buildings cover cover the whole building or just me share? If just my share, how do roof claims get dealt with? Trying to explain the situation to the mortgage adviser......

All this just sounds crazy to me. They obviously don't have a scooby.johnboy_78 wrote:Donald - I started with the manager and he was just as obstructive as the call centre staff!!! We are now making some progress though.....

If the flat is not factored then you all have your own buildings insurance. In the event of a claim everyone pays their share. Any repairs are shared amongst the owners too. Pretty simple really. They should know all this.

This just goes from the sublime to the rediculous!! Just quickly called RBS (whilst the Woolwich are sorting out some paperwork and phoning me back) to check the position with insurance.
They told me that they cannot offer buildings insurance for a "freehold" flat in Scotland as it would mean that everyone would have a policy covering the same roof..........(I can get contents though)!!! Aaaarrrgghh.
Yet another English call centre.

John, all Scottish properties are Fuedal which is completely different to Freehold and leasehold. They are English terms.
I've spoken to the call centre on 0845 076 0169, don't know what number you are using. They told me 3 weeks and that it would fast track.
Try direct line or the like for your b&c.
