In order of preference:

(a) don't go; it's almost certainly a pointless meeting anyway ;-)
(b) drive down in the car overnight and the same again on the way home; personally I prefer the get up early and be there by 8 approach, though you can also get there at 2 and have a nap in a travel splodge.
(c) fly

After the train once again f*cked Katie over on her recent trip to Nottingham I cannot recommend using the train ever. It's not that the airlines don't f*ck you over as well, but at least you have a host of options. Stranded somewhere between Nottingham and Grantham on a "bus" that's being run because the trains have been cancelled, only to miss your connection at Grantham because the driver couldn't work out how to park his bus, then to be stitched up because now your onward ticket isn't valid for the next train; I'm sorry, but that sort of sh*t means that I won't use the train.

Cheers,
Robin

Had similar experience. Only used the train a couple of times in the past 20 years, and both occasions it's been useless. Only train I'll use (occasionally) is the clockwork orange

I just couldn't even contemplate driving or getting the train to London. I go down for one day trips all the time. 06:30 flight down then the 17:15 or 19:15 back up and I'm back in time to join my mates in the pub!

thanks for the input y'all... Unfortunatly, not going (which would be my first choice currently) is not an option as i've just landed a 28 day project down there.... Still, it'll keep me out of mischief for a bit i suppose.

Options for going down are completely goosed now though! Its either get fisted for £200 by BA for a 6am flight from glasgow, £120 & prestwick by ryanair or £145 for the sleeper (no hairy ape rate)

As i'll be in london for a week, i dont really want to take the car....

Looks like the train is winning at this rate

At least im out in town for beers tonight

Cheers,

Steve

If taking a car then drive to heathrow stick it in long term parking and then take a train into town which can be a good option if going for a week.

As to trains yes british ones are a bit pap but after going on the Japanese bullet train i now believe the British ones are really pap

Feckin airlines dont get me started. The flight I booked 2 months ago has been cancelled and moved a day earlier. If I could get the train to Morrocco I would.

BTW, did anyone see David Gilmour's thing at the Royal Albert Hall on TV a couple of weeks back? Featured David Crosby & Graham Nash as *backing singers* ... 8-) 8-)
