I don't put much in the gallery, but I had looked out about 5 pics that i'd held back for submission when the time came :|

I think the guys in charge of putting the whole thing together want to portray the 'feel' of SE so dirty Loti being driven hard or more subtle capturing the moment at events type etc tend to be favoured over arty magazine type shots.

Fair enough. I completely understand, but there are several shots in last year's calendar (including the pic of my car this month) that were not taken at SE events and were "staged".

But I'm all for the theme that you're trying to achieve, as long as that's consistent throughout.

Thanks for the effort in organising this.

Good effort Si and DH. Saves alot of faffing about for what would probably end up the same result anyway.

Yep, realise that and that's why I decided to go through the gallery this time round. It's only the 2nd calendar and I think it's worth trying a different approach. I have another idea that I think might be the best way of doing next years but I think I'll get this year out of the way first :P

Was sceptical when I looked at the first couple of months' entries.

However I warmed up, and think that, once again, the organisers done a fair job under tough conditions ;-)

Couple of points to note...

- A lot of "classique" calendar shots getting votes...remember, this is to reflect the spirit of our club. I am happy to see staged shots in there...and the "classique" ones...but remember, some of the funnies * are what really make SE too.

- It would be useful at the start of the year to know if the gallery submissions over said year are to be the only means of entering a calendar pic. Bear this in mind for next year - a clear steer on this would be good and could encourage more efforts.

* What about 2 calendars next year (!) - The SE Out-takes, based on votes only for "funnies"...people pointing the wrong way, folks in ditches, etc...and the remainder voted for in The SE Classics calendar ;-)

I have no wish to sh!t stir, so this is *not* intended to... but some of the vote candidates were not posted in the Gallery at all :?

And I was surprised not one of my Ingliston Sprint pics made it... :( ...but hey ho. Life's too short, and all that :)

I guess there were just too many pics for Simon to wade through - big task and respect for his efforts. I look forward to having my copy sat on my desk.

Can we have some perspective on this please?

There are a great number of photos taken every year of our beloved cars and some of these photos make us feel very proud of either our cars or our photographs. However what Simon & Karen are doing is trying to give us a snapshot of the year covering many cars and many events. Some of teh guys on here take photos that are off a professional standard and woudl grace any publication I am sure. I think S&K are doing a very difficult job very well. All you have to do is imagine having the hassle of doing this yourself and you will realise I'm correct. You can't please everyone all the time its impossible.

If you have twelve wonderful photos you could always get your own calendar made up I am sure that if its any good there would be some takers on here as there are so many Lotus crazy people.

Keep up the good work Karen & Simon it is very much appreciated :thumbsup

Ken, thanks for your comments. Simon and I both do put a lot of work in to this but we do it as it's great looking at a Lotus every month on your desk and hopefully everyone will enjoy the calendar when 2008 comes along.

It's a lot of work putting this calendar together for both Simon and I and as we are doing this voluntarily, we don't want to be permanently attached to a PC!

Whilst we are happy to put this together this year and get it out the door, some others may want to take it over next year? (I'll sit back and see how many takers get in touch)! This is the second calendar that Simon and I have done and by reading the negative comments, may be the last time I get involved in it! :(
