I normally go down to glentress and do the red route with a couple of black sections thrown in.
Ive never been to carronvalley but i hear its pretty good so Id be up for whatever is easiest for everyone, altho something without to much uphill pedalling would be good as my cross country bike is broken just now so I only have my heavy freeride bike to ride.
Im up for next weekend if that suits anyone, I usually head out in the morning but anytime is good as I have all day off on a sunday.

The Scott Ransoms are meant to be great bikes and they look so cool. The spec looks pretty good, seams like a lot of bike for the money to me.tenkfeet wrote:I do cross country but am a bit injured due to Hogmany dancing but will be up for it later .

I have an old Scott hardtail which is showing its age and was thinking of this http://www.dalescycles.com/ProductDetai ... CTRANS2007 I am a bit out of touch with new bikes .
Any opinions? Budget is £2k of credit

Would be up for this too
Carronvalley is not a bad little course, very easy with a few nice little table top jumps at the end. Would only take about 1 hour to do a full circuit but you could always do 2 or just have a play on the jumps at the end

What if you get a stonechip on your bike?Dominic wrote:I'd be up for a run to Carron valley next weekend. What's the plan then? Sat / Sun ? AM / PM?
I'd prefer sunday morning TBH, what about everyone else?
Morven, if myself, dave and jon (none of whom are within shouting distance of the peak of physical fitness) can get to the top then i'm sure you'd be fine on a 8 year old's trike let alone your freestye bike
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

haha Im far from being the quickest up a hill on a bike, Its the downhill bits that i go for. I have to admit I tend to push up when Im on that bike cos its a pain to pedal.
Sunday morning would prob suit me best too, might need to get directions as Ive not been before depends if my mate is around or not as he has been I think.

Na nothing to bad mate, all the climbs are pretty short too.LittleMorvy wrote:Carronvalley sounds good to me then, I can manage either sat or sun so whatever suits everyone best is cool with me.
Are there any really steep climbs or will i be able to manage it on my freeride bike as i only have one ring on the front so not many gears for climbing?
What bike you on? I use a E Thirteen DRS (twin chain ring) works really well for both climbs and downs
Next Sunday AM would suit me better

Ive got a cove playmate with a mrp and 36t ring. Its more the weight thats the problem for someone as little as me but I can just push any bits that are too steep for mescib4 wrote:

I really need to get round to fixing the forks on my xc bike for this sort of thing.

Tenk, if you've got £2k to spend, get a second hand Kona or a Santa Cruz - far better than a Scott. Register on http://www.descent-world.co.uk forum and grab a bargain when the posh kids get rid of their old mummy-bought bikes for a new one on the student loan
