Europa
Re: Europa
That makes sense, it looks rather like a love match between a Proton and a Hyundai.

Re: Europa
I think the Europa is a really credible GT cruiser, with the ECU performance tweak my understanding from Obi Wan was that it was a much improved car.
Not a trackday weapon maybe but the refinement to make a Euorpean blast that bit more comfortable and less frenetic. If the roofs came off I'd be looking very, very, very closely indeed for a change or to add one to the stable when the cash position improved.
The Lotus Guy's chat explains a lot right enough.
The one on pistonheads is OK-ish but that interior looks like toddler sick. Of which I have considerable recent experience
Lawrence's was really nice.
I still say a Europa R would have some market potential. [dons flamesuit]

I just cant get my head round the Europa, not sure if I would have one?.
Lawrence classed it as a S2VX?

Re: Europa
I know a lot of you die-hards on here don't think much of the Europa but I think it's great. I've had mine for 3 or 4 months now, and other than it leaking like a sieve (which i'm sure is unique to my particular car!!!) it's a pleasure to own. My original intention was to get an Elise but after studying the pros and cons of both I had to go for the Europa. I have to use it as my only car and there was no way I could get my work bags in an Elise. I've had 3 Elises since I ought the Europa and they just weren't as practical. Don't get me wrong, they were awesome. The Elise S was fun, albeit guttless in comparison to the Europa. Just felt like it needed revving hard to get it to do anything. The 2 111R's I've had were great fun, but not any quicker than mine, and again needed driving hard (beyond 6200 rpm) before it did anything special. The Europa though is great in any gear, at any revs. It does sometimes feel like the red line comes along just a bit too quick, when the noise has just got good and the acceleration is at it's best but just move it up a cog and look forward to it all happening again! The Elises felt firmer round corners etc but the Europa will still out stick most other things on the road, and it's definately quicker. Mine's got the power upgrade to 225bhp so it's 0-60 is under 5 secs (depending who you talk to it's either 4.7 or 4.9 secs) but it's the in gear acceleration that makes it quick. Put your foot down in any gear and there is power there straight away. It's better in that respect than an Audi TT 3.2 V6.
The cabin is roomier too so is better for longer distance driving. It's still nothing like a porsche etc but made more sense to me than an Elise for everyday use. The boot is fine. I can get my flight bag and nightstop bag in it no trouble which I couldn't with the Elises. In fact, I can get all my golf clubs in it on my days off too (not in the bag, right enough, they need to come out the bag and the bag in after but still, it's not on the passenger seat!).
Overall, I really like the Europa.
I am looking forward to seeing what the Eagle/Ethos is like.
I do think that that could put the Europa into even more of a no mans land but we'll have to wait and see. The Europa is not the GT that Lotus should've made it, no arguement there, but it is still a good car. Unless you've driven it, I don't think anyone can have an honest, justified opinion of them.

IIRC the pricing structure for the Europa will be 'standard' car at £27995, and SE which is basically the same as the car in the add for £32995 - and that will be brand new from the factory ! and even at that depreciation will be eye watering

Re: Europa
It seems like even Lotus have lost interest and given up on the Europa - if they hadn't we would surely have seen a more powerful version by now or at least a special edition of some sort. I agree with Campbell though, I still think there is a good car trying to get out, and an R version with 260ish bhp, sticky tyres and stiffer suspension would be a very appealing car.

Never mind room for the flight bag, can you get more than one Air Hostie into it, ie a second one for emergencies behind the seats?

Tut, with the hostie I've taken it upon myself to live with, there's no danger I'd ever need an emergency one!!!!! I know we're used to system redundancy and all that but having a spare to Kirsty would be like having a third deck on an A380, just in case there wasn't enough room already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not guilty of that, Tut. Sorry if my post was misleading.tut wrote:

I married a Gulf Air Hostie after trying out a few dozen in comparison to BA and Quntas ones, and she definately came out on top.

Was thinking about your Gulf Air Hostie during the GP Tut, when I saw them flying that 777 or whatever it was with the F1 livery on it
