"Is that Ben Stiller in the middle in his dodgeball guise ? "

Steve Watson, my closest friend, Clares Godfather, been together since we joined the Royal Marines in '63, then throughout the Oman war in the 70's, both left when we had finally kicked Adoo, Yemen, Russian and Chinese ass, joined Bristows and flew the North Sea in the 80's and 90's together, he is still flying in Nigeria at 64, as unlike me he does not get a War Pension.

He was my co-pilot on two occasions when we got shot down in Oman, second time he gave me concussion when he used my head as a stepping stone to get out of the Huey when it was on fire.

His son Ben is now an Army Officer in Iraq and our Godson, also the originator of my nickname 24 years ago, also went out with Zara Phillips for two years when they were at Gordounston together, which the press never knew about, or it would have been "Tuts Godson cops Princess Zara's cherry".

The old timers here will remember the story of when I went to pick her up at Balmoral Castle in N1 for Bens 18th birthday party at our place, and was introduced to most of the Royal Family by Princess Anne as she returned from walking her dog and found me waiting outside for her daughter, resplendent in bare feet and the usual tracksuit bottoms. Was funny hearing her say "oh there's Grandma hogging the news again" when we watched TV.

In fact he is getting married in July in Troon, not to Zara of course, and Verian, Clare and I are going down for the weekend for the wedding. Time to get the medals out.

Happy memories.

A thought.

Just been reading some of my old posts as I was looking for photos, and I feel I may be guilty of "Last of the Summer Wine" syndrome, ie old buggers sitting around and reminiscing about the old days.

I sometimes forget that there is nobody of my generation in the Group, and that it is first and foremost an Elise Forum, so I would hate to piss owners off with ramblings, when it is the cars that bought us together.

re "Last of the Summer Wine" syndrome.

You seem to have substituted hurtling down the hill on an out of control shopping trolley to hurtling around a race track in an out of control Elise. There is nothing wrong with telling old stories provided you continue to make new ones.
