Tut, glad you were with him.

Shocking news, best wishes to Brian for a speedy recovery.
Hope you are ok too Tut - adrenaline lets the human body overcome normal limitations but you feel the effects when it wears off, and well done for your swift actions.

Tut

Sorry to hear of your drama and noting your comment that speed was not a factor in this incident.
A car generally does not veer across a road........did anything break?
Spring is the season of Blossom,Birds Nesting, April Sunshine.......and Toe Link failures??

Hope Brian has a speedy recovery

Going across to KH this afternoon in the vain hope of more sunshine and watch Russell race his new Morgan Plus Eight

Possibility of course Iain, back end was not too badly damaged so could be checked, and must admit it was unusual for him to go straight on rather than following the bend. However he has no recollection of what happened.

Although excessive speed did not come into it, the bends were a tightish chicane, I know the road so knew they were coming, but it was a tightening bend. I was not as close behind as usual as I had lost my sun glasses and was getting dirt in my eyes plus his fumes, so was about to overtake him on the next straight and take the lead.

The tyre marks on the road were close together indicating that he had slewed across the road which is why he hit the tree side on and not head.

Always quite shocking when you hear of a bad accident involving one of our own, especially when the driver sustains fairly severe injuries.

The main thing is that tut didn't panic and freeze, as so many people tend to do when faced with a casualty in a situation like this - From what you've described, you also seem to have focused on the most important things, and avoided the temptation to extricate Brian from the car yourself.

I'm sure he very much appreciates your actions, and I wish him all the best in his recovery. :thumbsup

Tut,

Pass on best regards to Brian and glad to hear you were there - sounded very nasty from your description.

Serves to remind me a little that the roads still throw up many surprises, probably more so at this time of year when the farmers are busy between fields and farm.

Sounds like Tut was the very man to have on the scene given his background.......wishing Brian a very speedy recovery regardless :) cars can be fixed with ease, humans not always so.....

Lesson for us all here - we have a duty to ourselves & family to have some basic first aid training plus first aid kit, fire extinguisher and perhaps a spare mobile battery on all driving missions ( family or petrolhead jaunts)

Also pays to know the name of the road you are on and if you have a TomTom, knowledge of how of how to relay the Lat/Lng to breakdown or Emergency Services where required.

Keep us posted and hope to see Brian back @ the keyboard as soon as possible.

It was a horrible feeling though Ross as I ran up seeing the damage and Brian sitting there not moving and covered in blood.

Hell of a relief though seeing his eyes open and hearing him speak. Those of you who know Brian will know how calm he is, does not speak a lot, but you will not meet a nicer guy. He must have been in a lot of pain when we moved him, but he never murmured.

Just going to call Isobel to get an update.

I had left Kh thinking how good it was to catch up with Brian again - I can't remember that last time - probably the TT trackday a few years back. Pass on Mandy & I's best wishes please.
