As Clarkson said, the FXX stays with Ferrari, but they will transport it to any circuit for the owner. I reckon they were all red except 1 black one, which sits out on display in a garage at Mugello I think. Owned by Schumacher, so `for 1 night only, the Stig was him, just like it was *insert Renault F1 test driver from a couple of years back here* when they had the Renault F1 on the track.

I thought it was a good show, that steam engine is some feat, and would have been awesome sight driving up the A1 with that thing passing you on the main line!

Craig came round and watched it with me so will have to watch the recording as I missed quite a bit.

The Stig is Ben Collins: confirmed as, when Top Gear took part in the Britcar 24hour race, obviously the drivers had to sign on and show their race licences.

Obviously, the marshal/scrutineer/official then made this information public.

I didn't think it was too bad an episode: would love a go in that train!

Best episode for years if you ask me :D

I thoroughly enjoyed it - and I loved the race. I wondered how many people would flag up the elise in the background. If anyone is getting more annoyng, its Hammond. I think he adds nothing to the show thesedays.

Best bit last - Shuey. I was genuinely excited when I saw the FXX on (being a geek, I knew there was only 1 black FXX in the world and it was a gift to Schuey from Ferrari on retirement so I had my suspicions). No-one can disagree that he's quite possibly the best GP driver that ever lived.

Brilliant episode, superb fun. car based entertainment just doesn't get any better than this.

Schumy was brilliant, what a great sport to pose as the stig and play along.

Great show - and as for the bike, car and train - what a great idea for a race!!!!

(and it travelled over 2 areas of track I designed, and another 5 that I was responsible for)

I think I commented at the time; "OMG Schumey has a sense of humour"

:wavey It's impossible to say for certain he is the best when he never raced with the best from previous generations.

Most of his time was spent racing some pretty bland racing drivers when he had the best car and the whole team, including a No.2 driver to move over on the finish line, working around him.

I liked his remark that perhaps Hakkinen was his toughest opponent. I always had a lot of respect for Hakk.

I like Hakkinen, good driver but when you think of all time F1 greats he isn't really one of the names that springs to mind.

Im a bit confused as to why they did not remove the FXX time from the board. It could probably go over a speed bumps but you could not drive it home as Ferarri keep the cars. I also assume that it would be on slicks :?

Good for Shuey to show a bit of a sense of humor. He must have known that he was going to get a hard time from Clarkson.

Not the best of episodes IMO. :tired

Schumacher interview could have been much better. Did he actually ask any relevant questions. Went on too long about him being the Stig.

Disappointed..........................

Very difficult to compare the best from different decades with each other. Fangio was 39 when the World GP Championship was formed.

Some had their lives cut short, Clark, Villeneuve, Senna, and of course as Hamilton and Button are now demonstrating, even the best driver can not do it without a winning car. The ones that spring first to mind are Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Senna, and Schumacher. But then where do you put Nuvolari, Moss, Prost, Villeneuve, and maybe a couple of others.

My own top three would be Fangio, Clark and Senna.

Fair points - wasn't the best of episodes, but I'm one that didn't twig it was Schumi (not quite anoraky enough to know what colour his car is) so had a genuine chuckle when it was revealed. Of course it's Ben Collins, but they did a good job of diverting the attention from the 'shock news' and remind people that it's just a bit of fun.

Evora was raved about - liked that a lot. Wasn't at all bothered that we didn't see the lap, as unless it's something mega-quick, the fast laps are a little tedious now.

Race was good fun - loved that it was a Black Shadow - got the impression that they even felt the features was a little weak though, so less of a focus on it than previous races. Still good though and I love classic machinery, so kept me happy.

Looking forward to the McLaren F1 Vs Veyron feature that was teased at the beginning montage.

With budgets being hacked about, thought it was still enjoyable and it's deffo on series link.
