My hayfever came on suddenly a couple of years ago. It was a nightmare so I went to the drs and they gave me 6 months supply of cetirizine hydrocloride and that stuff worked a treat! And prescription charge is only £4 now so much, much cheaper than buying it over the counter. 
Its also good for other allergies well as my friend who is allergic to cats came round to visit one day and forgot to take her antihistamine and as soon as she sat down her face puffed up as I have 2 cats. I gave her one of my tablets and within a few minutes, her symptoms were gone. Even she was surprised as her ones take a hour to work! Result.
