So the police cant read the front no plate when your cars stolen, in my experiance they do a running check following behind you......... :cheers So how do they read Mckeens front no plate on his new bike when his is stolen....nowone......its not fitted.......... now considering most bikes can fcuk over most cars on the road head on . The need for any front plate is rubbish........... A bikes tax can be atached to the side, yet on a car it must be displayed on the screen

The whole thing is fuching garbage , everyone should rip the Tax disk off and front plate off cars for the day and see what the diffarance is......fuch all exept collection in tax....

TWATS...... :tired

I'm sure this has been discussed before.

I have a feeling that it was said that a front number plate must be vertical. Not sure if that's true or not though.

Chris

The legal thing about a number plate is that from a certain distance it must be, if I reda that correctly then you should be able to stretch it of it in on a non vertical face

Some cars are allowed a stick on numberplate on the front body if they do not have a vertical surface. The E-Type used to be one, but I do not know what the regulations are nowadays, or if it only applies to classic cars.

Its not as simple as just displaying it. It has to be clearly visible and be able to be read at certain angles which are different in daylight and and night. I can't remember exactly what they are but will check.

That's what the flash is for! Or are you talking about the mobile cameras?
The only front facing cameras in scotland are the mobile ones are they not? I thought that the fixed ones had to be pointing to the rear because of some silly privicy law.

The SPECS average speed cameras have infra-red lamps to illuminate the plate.
Standard number plates reflect IR light incredibly well. You can see it on those bullet cams with IR LEDs around the lens.

All number plates must be displayed in accordance with The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 (obtainable from Her Majesty's Stationery Office). And if you want to waste a couple of hours of your life then you can find a copy of it here.
