if you're not going to track it much, then an Elise 111R may be preferable?
Not so sure - I went from an S2 135 to Exige, expecting the Exige to be a bit of a compromise on road in return for more grip on track. In fact I find it is a better road car as well as far better on track. Been driving the Exige roof off last few days, so no drawback there either.

Yep just do it you won't be disappointed. Even during the running-in period <4500rpm they feel quite quick.

I agree my mate tried to talk me out of getting the Exige for months saying that it would be useless on our bumpy roads but a run up to Glenshee last week convinced him otherwise
Mark keep that h/top firmly in place or us S2 exigers may be tarred even more with the 'hairdressers car' brush.

No, the poofery is having a roof that serves no structural purpose but to add weight......

I think I saw your car once or twice without the roof on it as I used to see it parked up when I went home for lunch.

Nahhh - was out for a blast late evening yesterday. Warm summer air, smell of freshly cut hay everywhere. Have driven roof on most of the time I have had the Exige, but when the weather is like last night it has to come off.
Mark - where has my hairdrier gone.....

How old's your car? and how complicated is it to get the roof to a state where you can get it off with an allen key?

Car is just over a year old. The fittings for the Exige roof are identical to a normal Elise S2 hardtop - it literally takes a couple of minutes to remove and is a doddle to refit.

Nope - absolutely none are needed. It has all the fittings in place for a soft top too, except for the sockets for the 2 flexy roof spars in the roll bar cover, but these are simple to add. I bought a soft top for my car, but have not actually used it yet. Like I said, I have driven the car roof on most of the time and haven't missed the wind in the hair thing as much as I expected, but I don't think I would have bought an Exige if I didn't at least have the option of removing the roof.
