WTF have they done??!!? - updated
4th pic is where the front undertray joins the chassis. It's the undertray that's lifted and bent - the main chassis starts at this join.simon wrote:I'd be very worried by the damage in the 4th pic. If that's the chassis, it looks like part of it has separated![]()

I would say they have lifted the car with the undertray on and the bolts in place. The jacking point IIRC is where those bolts fit into but it is only thin steel so placement would be crucial.
Did they know about the jacking points? Did they ask?
Remember the bolt points are part of the subframe and the lower wishbone mounts... Anyone else thinking he should claim another geo just in case (Done by someone else!)
I would echo the thoughts on a 2 poster, having watched them in use at masterfit while my MOT was going on, the liz would never have made it over the central ridge without bottoming out and the arms would be far too tall without the operator changing them from the default "Corsa" settings, hence parallel-ish scratches

Nope - the jacking points are the bolts to the rear - those are the front bolts holding on the undertray. I've seen the car jacked there before, but I've also seen more than 1 (including mine) car with the mounts bent, I assume as a result.RICHARDHUMBLE wrote:I would say they have lifted the car with the undertray on and the bolts in place. Quick update and your opinions please….
I’ve been to Perth twice now, the last time I saw the Manager and the Direct Line engineer (my car was in JM getting repaired by the third parties insurer Direct Line). I'm not entirely sure why the direct line Engineer was there, he was saying it wasn't anything to do with them. He just seemed to back up what ever the JMG manager said. He also kept saying that every Elise has scores like this under the car, and I kept replying that it was irrelevant because mine certainly didn’t until it went into JM! (he also said I should be careful what I post on the internet
)
So..the JM manager agreed to do a ‘dressing up’ as well as saying they'd check the chassis and give me a letter confirming is was still straight. The ‘dressing up’ would involve straightening out the undertrays and the brackets the bolts screw into… which would be good because the undertray is vibrating badly and resting on the flexi section, probably doing it no good at all. I'm tempted to just give them the car anb be done with it.
But then on the other hand… I’m fed up having to drive thro there, god knows when I’ll see the car again, I’m not very happy with the term ‘dressing up’. And what bothers me the most it that the under side of the chassis has two big scores which it didn’t have before grrr
So what you think I should do, just get them to srot what they said they’d do and be done with it? Tempting :-/

S1 50th Ann.
Elises do not all have scrapes like that (just the SE ones
) ask Lotus, they do not leave the factory like that. Even better ask for a repair quote form MMC and present them with that and see what happens
You can post what you like on t'internet as long as it true. You have a right to express your opinions as you like.
They have to repair all of the damage they have inflicted on your car. Scrapes and all. But remember (IIRC!) the chassis cannot be repaired officially so either a new chassis or suitable compensation....

I think it's time you PM'ed Super Greg.... Copies of everything you've got in writing... Don't let them try the 'put the sh*t up you' rubbish about posting stuff on the internet.Scottd wrote:Quick update and your opinions please….

Nail em to the wall - as somebody said in another thread recently, if it was in your house, it would be criminal damage.
