there is 2 of them, so its like a double negative, they cancel each other out!

Nearly did the same when I picked up my car from a service. Mechanic had left it in gear and I just started it up as normal and shot backwards. Was a bit miffed and was just about to go on and complain to the service desk when I thought I'll show them the Drivers handbook which I am sure will not say to put it in gear. Well it may not say leave it in gear when parked but it does say to start, operate the Clutch and Brake and then turn the ignition on

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
